Russell Watson

Can''t Help Falling In Love

March 13th, 2006 sees the release of Russell Watson's Greatest Hits 'The Ultimate Collection’. On top of the hits, the album includes the brand new track: 'Can't Help Falling In Love'. ClassicalX’s Tracey Bell checks to see if Russell really can do this classic track justice.

“I had just finished making breakfast when I heard the post pushed through the door. I had been told to look out for a promo sampler of the NEW Russell Watson album and there it was. I quickly unwrapped it, reviewed the track listing, and found the new track ‘Can’t Help Falling In Love’. Now I have to admit my concerns with Russell performing this song but 30 seconds in and any negative thoughts I had were gone. For those worried that this track may be too influenced by Elvis, fear not.

It is given the full orchestral treatment and Russell really makes it his own. With use of the breathy and measured vocal technique we all loved in tracks from 'Amore Musica' he sets a mood that will melt more than a few hearts before slowly building up to a spectacular finish that leaves you on a high and wanting more.

Let’s hope those fortunate enough to be going to Russell’s New Zealand concerts (Feb06) get the chance to fully appreciate the power and emotion of ‘Can’t Help Falling In Love’ first hand. This song is a real treat for all ‘Russellers’ and may even gain just a little respect from ‘die hard’ Elvis fans.

As well as ‘Can’t Help Falling In Love’ – The Ultimate Collection tracks include:

Nella Fantasia
Caruso
Volare
The Prayer
Il Gladiatore
You raise me up
Miserere
Funiculi funicula
O sole mio

So pleased Russell sings ''Can''t Help Falling In Love'' as RUSSELL and leaves Elvis'' track to the King.
Does anyone know if ''I Have Nothing'' really is the track from The Bodguard, its driving me crazy waiting to find out.

I have heard that I Have Nothing is The same song sung by Whitney Houston in the Bodyguard.
