|
|
You Raise Me Up - the best of Aled - will be released on 27th November.
The track listing will be:
You Raise Me Up
I Believe
Panis Angelicus (with Bryn Terfel)
The Snowman (with Young Aled)
How Great Thou Art
Marble Halls (with Julian Lloyd Webber)
Silent Night (with Hayley Westenra)
Vespera
All Through The Night
Pie Jesu
My Life Flows On
Places
Deep Peace
Abide With Me
San Damiano
O Holy Night (with Young Aled)
Did You Not Hear My Lady?
Suo-Gan
So a lot of old favourites - and a duet version of The Snowman!
Now, I absolutely love the Aled duets versions of just about anything - they are totally unique to him and very special. "O Holy Night" is quite amazing. And I can't think of anything better than a CD of young / old Aled songs (which I don't think they would do as it would play all the cards at once!) But I am not sure the "The Snowman" would be my first choice! I can think of so many songs on Aled's treble CDs that would be truly fantastic performed as treble / baritone duets.
Maybe it is because Christmas will be approaching when the CD is released, and maybe arose from the Choirboys / Aled version of "Walking in the Air" last Christmas.
At least they have also included "O Holy Night"! |

I'm very much looking forward to getting this CD. Nearly all of my Aled favourites are on there.
I've been enjoying him on Classic FM music channel singing San Damiano.
I have Oh Holy Night on his Christmas album and I love him singing with his younger self. So I'm really looking forward to The Snowman to hear his duet on it. I'm also looking forward to hearing him sing You Raise Me Up.
I dont think I've heard Deep Peace ......will check out my albums - I have three - Aled, New Horizons and The Christmas Album - thanks for the recommendation for Higher X bons - I shall put that on my Christmas pressie list.
Love Molly xx _________________

Hi Molly,
You can hear a part of Aled's version of "You Raise Me Up" on his myspace site - URL is in the links section. Lyndsey (lyrical lynz) runs it.
"Deep Peace" is also known as "Gaelic Blessing" - or "Garlic Dressing" as I have heard Aled joke about it! The lyrics are in the lyric section on here.
I do enjoy the adult version of "O Holy Night" - but sorry, nothing holds a candle to the Aled duet version! There are 2 videos of that on YouTube, incidentally (same video) Young Aled looks a bit pompous! I understand the young Aled video was taken in a cave in Israel during the Holy Land tour. Oh, the joys of modern technology! |

who suggested that aled record a duet of walking in the air as one song for the album?
I think that idea was fantastic!
A very good album with some very good songs on it. I particularly like abide with me, panis angelicus and places. |
