I hope this does not get into any arguements .
But I was think that theses 3 are alot alot but there are things that are not alot.
Alot of you do not know who VITTORIO is right now as his cd did not come out but he could come to be as big as IL divo and G4.
And I think there are the new kind of classical crossover.

they all are classical trained.
G4 they what four years, IL Divo I think all but one has four years in music school , VITTORIO I think he could of had the most training of all.
they do pop music in there own way .
they all do not what they music called pop or classical
they all do some covers.
the other part is caming latter. |

part 2 what is different about tham.
IL mostly sings in non english and G4 it is moslty english VITTORIO I do not know I think it could end up being a mix.
g4 it is 2 tenors 2 britatone , IL divo they have a non classical trained singer and a britatone and VITTORIO tenor .

G4 - as far as I know - are two tenors and two baritones, whereas one baritone is quite good in doing all the basso stuff. I may be corrected if I'm wrong.  |

Il Divo are much better balanced than G4, much more of a quartet. Each of the vocalists in Il Divo gets the chance to share the spotlight and swap around parts and I just think their vocal quality is better. By contrast G4 are Jon and the other 3 dudes.
I think Jon would have a hard time getting into Il Divo. I don't know about the other 3 because you can barely hear them sing anything meaningful. It's impossible to tell how good (or bad) they actually are. |

G4 are a High Tenor (Jon) a Tenor (Ben) a baritone (Mike) and a bass baritone (Matt).
They all have excellent voices and for myself I like the way that Jon takes the lead and the other three provide the harmonies.
However they dont always do this. Very often one of the others will take the lead and the harmonies shift about - most often on Tour and on live performances.
They also do quite a bit of four part harmonies.

...........my take on Il Divo is that they all seem to be trying to outsing each other - each of them takes a turn singing lead vocals but collectively their harmonies don`t seem to gel together........ individually though they all have good voices. But I have never heard them sing live because the only times I have seen them on TV they have been (controversially) miming and I cannot understand why they feel the need to do that  |

Obviously because it's easier and lazier. There are some times when miming is better but those are few and far between from an artistic point of view. If they are constantly miming then they are losing credibility but unless they then start losing record/concert ticket sales how much will it really matter? |

I dont understand either why artists mime so often on tv. I sometimes wonder if the general public at large though even know or care? Look at groups like Westlife who only ever sing live at their concerts (very rarely have I seen them sing live on tv) but they have sold over a million copies of their latest album. 
I really dislike artists miming on tv - especially if they can sing! I know lots of groups mime becuase they are pretty useless live but that doesnt apply to everyone.
Live performances mean that each and every performance is always different and I love it that G4 always sing live - it makes it so much more satisfying for the fans who want to hear their live voices!

A lot of artists voices are not up to the job (without studio enhancement) - however in their defence, singing live in a TV studio, without the correct accoustics, sound engineering, etc will show up the flaws.
Pet Shop Boys are a good example - did they ever sing live? |

a lot of groups mime on tv cos of dance routines. the routines are so busy that if they were to sing live you'd hear the panting in their voices, some even mime at concerts because of this. So for that reason classical or crosover groups shouldnt have the need to mind, (cant imagine a busy dance routine to Nessun Dorma  )
But then as xboss has said it may also be due to lack of the good voice live |

Another reason for miming on TV could simply be money. For TV stations it might be cheaper and easier to let singers mime (less equipment and less sound checking needed and sound checks can be done without the star's presence). There are artists who dislike miming because they are used to sing live but are "forced" to mime if they want to perform in certain shows - at least here with us.
About two years ago there was a funny story about a German singer/comedian who wanted to sing live on TV but wasn't "allowed". He was quite angry about that but agreed to perform anyway. But to show the audience that he was not singing live he stopped in the middle of the song and had a walk through the venue. It was so funny to watch - he talking to the audience while his singing continued. |
