THE ALBUM

We are very pleased to unveil here to you first, the cover for Il Divo's new album 'The Promise'.
Shot by Walter Chin in July, the image shows Carlos, David, Sebastien and Urs in front of a stunning tapestry at the Hotel De Crillion, on the Place de la Concorde in Paris. The Goeblins tapestry reproduces a drawing by 17th century French painter Boucher and is in the Marie Antoinette Room, where she apparently had her music lessons.

Il Divo's magnificent new album The Promise, will be available to buy from the 10th November, except for North America from the 18th November and Japan from the 26th November.

The Promise sees Il Divo return with their richest and most diverse album to date. Produced by longtime collaborator Steve Mac, it reveals a courageous new direction for the group over twelve captivating songs. An inspired version of Frankie Goes To Hollywood's 'The Power Of Love' features alongside a haunting and beautiful interpretation of Leonard Cohen's 'Hallelujah', the smouldering intensity of 'Adagio', contrasts beautifully with a bold version of ABBA's 'The Winner Takes It All.'

FIRST LISTEN: Il Divo Sings 'Hallelujah'

Il Divo, the operatic pop vocal group created by Simon Cowell, will release its fifth album, The Promise, on Nov. 18 – and PEOPLE has the exclusive first-listen of one of the album's Spanish tracks, "Hallelujah." (The album is a mix of Spanish, Italian and English songs).

The band – consisting of multinational musical hotties David Miller (American), Sebastien Izambard (French), Urs Bühler (Swiss) and Carlos Marin (Spanish) – will perform another track, "Amazing Grace," on The Oprah Winfrey Show Friday. The group will also soon announce plans for a 2009 tour.

"People might be surprised by this album," says Miller. "Our goal was to approach it with fresh ears and fresh spirits, and try some different things. We've still got all the cannons and fireworks, but there is more range, different dynamics, more light and shade, more color."

The group has sold 22 million albums worldwide. So not surprisingly, an unabashed Cowell, who signed the group to his Syco record label, said: "Il Divo now is probably one of the most successful groups in the world."
