Aled presenting Young Musician of the Year

Aled said yesterday that he will be missing Good Morning Sunday on May 11th as he will be in Cardiff for the Young Musician of the Year competition. The final will be shown on BBC 2; more information (times etc) will follow in Aled's May appearances

The final of Young Musician of the Year competiton will indeed be shown on BBC 2 tomorrow (Sunday) from 6.00 - 8.05 on BBC 2. I also see that Nicola Benedetti, who of course won the title in 2004, and who received the award as Young British Classical Performer at the Classical Brits on Thursday, will be one of the judges.

Spot the celebs at music’s big finale

A GLAMOROUS celebrity line-up has been assembled for tonight’s BBC Young Musician of the Year grand final.

Stars including Gethin Jones, Catrin Jenkins, Aled Jones and Nicola Benedetti will be in Cardiff.

Strictly Come Dancing star Gethin (pictured) will host the competition with singer and presenter Aled at the Wales Millennium Centre.

Violinist Nicola Benedetti, 21, who won in 2004, was named young British classical performer at the Classical Brit Awards on Thursday night and will be joining the Queen of the Harp, former royal harpist Catrin Finch, 27, on the panel of jurors.

They will be two of the youngest judges in the competition’s 30-year history along with Doctor Who orchestrator and conductor Ben Foster, award-winning conductor Paul Daniel and music critic Richard Morrison.

One of the finalists is pianist Erdem Misirliolu, 18, whose mum Julia is from Newbridge.
