Montreal, Wednesday, April 9th, 2008 – On Thursday, April 24 the divine voice of Italian-born Canadian soprano Giorgia Fumanti will be heard in China, when the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing will be graced with her presence for a unique concert together with none other than China’s greatest living tenor, Yu Qiang Dai. This magnificent duo will be accompanied by the world-renowned Beijing Symphony Orchestra.

Ms Fumanti, whose talent, charisma and vocal purity are becoming known in ever-widening circles worldwide, will lend her truly angelic voice to an eclectic programme combining pop and classical music, an exciting musical cocktail that has become her trademark.

Giorgia Fumanti will share the stage with tenor Yu Qiang Dai, whose reputation was firmly entrenched following his memorable benefit concert in Beijing dedicated to Luciano Pavarotti (who died in September 2007). Yu was Pavarotti’s first and only Asiatic student, and the benefit concert was particularly notable for his moving interpretations of several of the great tenor’s best-known classical works.

The electrifying Canadian artist will in addition be one of the very first singers to take the stage at the National Centre for the Performing Arts, which had its grand opening only this past December! Built expressly for the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics, this majestic venue with its soaring titanium-and-glass ellipsoidal dome, has become a symbol of pride for the entire nation.

Following this prestigious concert, Giorgia Fumanti will fly to Greece for two gala concerts on Friday, May 2nd and Saturday, May 3rd at the Athens Arena, accompanied by the extraordinary tenor Mario Frangoulis as well as the renowned Italian composer of Caruso, Lucio Dalla. Giorgia will also take advantage of her sojourn on European soil to stop over in Italy to promote her latest album, From My Heart.
