Paul at Royal concert Hall Nottingham 22 Jan 2008

Tickets are still available for opera singer Paul Potts on January 22.

The winner of ITV's Britains Got Talent will perform an evening of classic opera arias. It will be his first tour and the singer told Qt he was is quite nervous about the prospect.

"I've never toured before so it's difficult to know exactly how things will go because I've not done this side of things," he said. "But I love performing for an audience because you get that instant feedback, which gives it an edge. As long as the feedback is good!"

Tickets are priced £23.50 and the show starts at 7.30pm.

To purchase any Royal Concert Hall show tickets, call the box office on 0115 989 5555 or visit www.royalcentre-nottingham.co.uk.

I had the pleasure of attending the concert in Nottingham last night.

I enjoyed the concert very much there was a good mixture of songs(I have not got a scanner and will take me a while to type up maybe later).

I had heard Paul on tv and did not know what to expect hearing him singing live.

I was not dissapointed, an individual with a voice as big as Pauls is very rare, may he continue to sing for years to come.

He sang a medley of Mario Lanza songs which was outstanding.

Paul came over as a very humble guy who still can not believe that people love to hear him sing.

He shared with us the first time that he met his wife and dedicated a song to her which he said reminded him of her the first time he saw her, it was beautiful.

His guest was Natasha Marsh who looked lovely as ever and her voice is just outstanding, her last song she dedicated to Paul which was "You Will Never Walk Alone". Which I think summed up Paul and the amazing success he has achieved and will continue to achive with his truly amazing voice.

They sang a duet together which was very good

The concert ended to a standing ovation from the audience which went on for several minutes.

I was also at the concert in Nottingham on Tuesday evening, and what a wonderful evening it was. When Paul came on he seemed a little nervous at first, and doesn't quite have the same stage presence yet as some other artists I have seen (I say 'yet' because I am sure as his tour progresses and he grows in confidence this will improve) but as soon as he began to sing you could forgive him for anything because the tone and power of his voice was amazing. My friend and I kept looking at each other in amazement as we couldn't believe what we were hearing. I think he started off with Everybody Hurts followed by Maria from Westside Story and Ave Maria, then Nella Fantasia. He did several songs from his album, plus a medley by Mario Lanza (not sure how to spell that name!). His final song was Time to Say Goodbye, with, of course, Nessun Dorma as his encore. As has been stated above, he got a long standing ovation at the end, and strangers all around me were remarking to each other how brilliant he was. I know he had a bad write up in the Telegraph, but if the reaction of the Nottingham crowd is anything to go by, then there were no complaints there!

He was supported beautifully by Natasha Marsh. I saw her support G4 last year on their cathedral tour and she seems to have gone from strength to strength. I am not usually too keen on soprano voices, but she was outstanding. I think her album sales went up after the show!

The orchestra were also fantastic, so all in all it was a very memorable evening.

Chris B I haven't posted before but came out of the shadows to tell you I thoroughly enjoyed the details (the most I've seen so far) and assessment you shared of Paul' concert. Thank you from me and I am sure many others who are looking for more input from concert-goers, since some of us live too far to attend this time around and must use our imaginations! Remember, we haven't heard him in person. Everyone I've read or talked to who has heard him (minus the professional critics who make their living attacking) says the same thing. That his voice live is astounding, even better than the album (which by itself is pretty astounding). So I won't be hearing him live, UNFORTUNATELY!! He is not coming to Atlanta for some mysterious reason!! He is flying right over us from Florida! Probably stopping at the airport on his way to Washington DC! How did this happen, Paul?
Sad

Thanks also, Mary!

And while I'm at it, I want to thank the site owners for a very enjoyable, classy classical site!

Oh, and my good friend Larry, who I pointed this way!! (wave)
And everybody at PPMSF that I used to know, and still do, you just don't know it! I'm still here; I just could not get my work done so I closed all my accounts one day when I was on deadline and desperate. But I never left.

Oh, and Paul, of course (wave)! And Julz (wave from KK)- See you in Atlanta! ( just thought I'd see how that sounds)

Love
KK

and that's my post to ChrisB!

Karin, it was nice of you to "come out of the shadows to comment on my post. I am glad you liked the details, and really sorry that you won't be able to see Paul live at the moment. I have been to quite a lot of concerts in my time, all of which I have enjoyed, but some I come out of thinking, "that was lovely", and some I come out of really buzzing. Paul fell into the "buzzing" category! The Telegraph newspaper over here gave quite a scathing report, but to my mind, so what if not every single note was perfect? It was good enough to have tears rolling down my friend's cheeks as he sang, and if that is not good enough for the critics, it's good enough for me. We also took my friend's parents with us (quite an elderly couple) and they said it was the best thing they had ever seen. I would love to see him again at some point and hope one day you get the opportunity too.
