Andrea Bocelli To Sing At Olympics Closing Ceremonies & More In Support Of New Album
As the 2006 Winter Olympics get underway, Italy's favorite son Andrea Bocelli is set to take the world by storm with multiple high-profile U.S. and international appearances. With a worldwide audience tuning in, Bocelli will sing "Because We Believe" at the Torino Games' closing ceremonies, held Feb. 26 in Olympic Stadium. The song is a featured track from his new Sugar/Decca CD "Amore." During the Olympics, Bocelli will also make three appearances on NBC's "Today Show," including an interview from his home in Tuscany as well as a pair of stirring musical performances. All this comes on the heels of the Jan. 31 release of "Amore," produced by Grammy-winners David Foster and Humberto Gatica, co-produced by Tony Renis.

The Olympics aren't the only major sporting event to recruit Bocelli. He will perform the David Foster-penned "Because We Believe" during the NBA's "All-Star Saturday Night/Weekend" in Houston on February 18th. His appearance is part of the NBA CARES program, which will reach a global audience topping 800 million. Bocelli's busy U.S. schedule also includes appearances on "The View" (Feb. 13), "Nightline" (Feb. 13) and "Martha" (Feb. 14). Coming up in March, PBS Great Performances broadcasts an unforgettable Andrea Bocelli concert filmed last December at the picturesque Lake Las Vegas resort.

With nearly 50 million albums sold worldwide, Andrea Bocelli possesses a voice that speaks to the hearts of millions across the globe. Amore boasts a stunning line-up of international love songs and pop standards sung in French, Italian, Spanish and English. Adding to the excitement, joining Bocelli on Amore are special guest stars Stevie Wonder, Christina Aguilera and Kenny G. Producer David Foster, a longtime fan, said, "This is one of the most important albums of my career. It is the album the world has been waiting for from Andrea Bocelli."
