G4 star Jonathan Ansell has signed a #1 million solo deal.
The blonde singer is the first member of the classical group to go it alone
since they split in the summer. He has landed a five-album deal with Universal Music, who believe he can be the classical world's answer to Justin Timberlake.
G4 were discovered on ITV talent show The X Factor and went on to sell two million albums worldwide.
Ansell said: "I'm incredibly excited to be signing to Universal, and thrilled
to be pursuing a solo career.
"It's been an amazing journey to this point and I think, at the start of this
new chapter in my career, anything is possible.
"Three years ago I was at music college and I went on the X Factor with somemates for a bit of fun, and now I've got my own deal.
"I never, ever expected to be able to do an album with anybody, let alone onmy own. I just wanted to be able to earn my living as a singer in whatever way. So I'm completely blown away."
The 25-year-old is managed by Jonathan Shalit, the man who discovered Charlotte Church and who currently looks after Jamelia and Myleene Klass.
He shot to fame with friends Matthew Stiff, Mike Christie and Ben Thapa on the X Factor in 2004. They were runners-up but soon eclipsed the career of series winner Steve Brookstein.
The former buskers, who met while studying at the Guildhall School of Music, went on to enjoy huge chart success and sold out the Royal Albert Hall three times.
But the band decided to go their separate ways after their summer tour when relations between them soured.
Ansell admitted: "We would be rowing backstage then have to put on fake smiles for the fans."
He was the fans' favourite, according to his new label.
Dickon Stainer, managing director of Universal Classics, said: "We are
thrilled to have signed Jonathan. He will bring a new excitement to the
classical world as a solo artist, just like Justin Timberlake did for pop. _________________ Marian X

Thanks for putting that up Marian. Read all the other links as well on G4O. Fabulous to see it written in black and white.
Lets hope it makes it into the actual papers and some magazines. Will have to keep an eye open.

Was only 27 this morning Molly, good to see it climbing up though.
Nothing in the printed tabloids yet, all seem to be full of Take That's first Tour night, maybe tomorrow? _________________
