New Zealand-born opera singer HAYLEY WESTENRA hates being compared to Welsh star CHARLOTTE CHURCH, insisting she is a successful performer in her own right.

The 18-year-old accepts the similarity between their early careers - as pre-teens performing classical music - but resents being dubbed the "new Charlotte Church".

The rising star adds, "But I've never really found the comparisons a compliment. Not only are we different people, we're different performers."

Whoever wrote that article was exaggerating. 'Resents' and 'hates'... yea. Ok.

I think you are right Nicola, I believe the above article is a bit of media 'stirring'.

Hayley has said that she thought it was a compliment to be compared to Charlotte before, and that its something she has come to expect.

Hayley has been asked questions about Charlotte countless times, and has gained much admiration for the way she handles them.

I think their just trying to make Hayley look like a diva. Rolling Eyes

But I have a feeling it won't work. Very Happy
