What are your views on the casting of Russell as Parson Nathaniel in the War of the Worlds musical? Smile

Well Tracey I have just been listening to my hubby's War of the Worlds. Phil Lynott (Thin Lizzie) is Parson Nathaniel and he has a very very different voice to Russell...very gruff. Unless there is more later on, it doesn't seem a very large part. The music is catchy, and very different for Russell. A challenge, I would say. A speaking and singing role. Maybe he is ready to move on and is flexing his muscles, so to speak!! Very Happy

I have noticed though that one of the dates is at Bournemout 15th April, and I thought Russell was doing Classic Response. If he is, then maybe he isn't doing every night. This is something we may have to beware of. Confused

Yes maybe the case, by why scheule him two major events at the same time!! It seems silly, and it also means fans won't know when Russell will be performing. Madness!! Shocked

Ok, so I looked this up ASAP on the RAH website (because I live in London and wanted to see him there) and ti doesn't even mention Russell

Equally, ticketmaster doesn't mention Russell at all for any venues. Are you sure this casting isn't for next season?

Well yes, but a lot of strain on Russell, I would think. It is a new venture for him, and won't be easy, as it involves acting and speaking. He won't be so in control as he normally is. I would have thought he needs to be able to concentrate on that. ...but what do I know.

I have been listening to the cd..... Poor Russell. .. a nasty end.... take your tissues ladies..there will be plenty of water for the ducks anyway Laughing Laughing

Laughing Laughing Laughing albeit salty water. I suppose its got to be a challenge for Russell perhaps thats what he wants tho Confused I hope its not exactly a one off, but musicals not very often. Russell is his own man and there's just the chance that he would end up like many others that have a musical theatre career and end up drifting into the background. While I think about this I'm thinking of Michael Ball. A successful career but not in the limelight very often. I guess I've just got the idea of Russell being another Pavorotti or something like a huge star in his own right. Dunno if that makes any sense Question Smile

Vi, it makes perfect sense. Razz I guess it all depends how much a success he can make of it. Very Happy Or are we worrying unneccessarily? I hope so. Thinking about it..it is a brave step..a challenge, as you say, and he must want to do it. I hope to go. Will you?
