So what's everyone's favourite song from the CD? I love them all but now that I've listened to it umpteen dozen times I have decided my favourite is the Exit Music. I just love the way he sings this!

My favourite is still How Do You Keep The Music Playing. I just love the chord sequences used in soft jazz songs, and I just imagine him singing it to me. x |

| I do love them all, but my favourite is I Just Have to Breathe. Everything about the piece from the music, the lyrics and of course Nick's singing and playing is just beautiful and fit so well together. I was not familiar with the piece before this and it is a song that lends itself to Nick's voice so well, it is as if it was written for him. I like to think he's singing it to me too and the arrangement is such that it sounds as if he is sitting at the piano in the room with you and singing to you - it's just perfect. |

As you probably saw from the review, my favourites are How Do you Keep the Music Playing and I Just Have to Breathe. I don't think there is one track on the album that I don't like though and I love that Nick has chosen pieces that haven't been covered by lots of artists. The Radiohead song is unique and makes the album that bit more personal to Nick too...I am thoroughly enjoying my copy and can't wait for the full length version.

Just like everyone else all songs are favorites and do get more than their share in playing. But I do have to say I love Rhapsody in Time and Exit Music very much. I just have to breathe is the greatest love song when Nick presents it and I love the way he sings it, it just makes me melt and I forget the world around me...
But I agree with Dee on Exit Music - I have found and listened to the original and my amazement has even grown! |

Ok I haven't found anything re chart positions or copies sold so far, but I did find some fantastic reviews of Nick's album over on amazon.co.uk....thought I would share them with everyone on here.
Reviewer: Emily C "Emily C" (UK) - I've admired Nick's voice from his Opera Band days with Amici forever and to now have an entire album just of his voice is sheer joy. The selection of tracks is first class and the way he combines his voice with the piano really makes you appreciate the enormous talent this young singer has. This is classical crossover 2007 style ! I'd happily recommend that anyone who likes crossover and likes to hear it done right buys this mini album. How refreshing that there is not one single track that has been covered and covered by every single artist on the planet in this genre. Well worth buying as a gift too for friends and family. You certainly don't have to love classical music to appreciate the CD but if you do you cannot fail to be impressed by the man and his voice !
Impressive debut - no gimmicks. CONGRATULATIONS., 7 Dec 2006
Reviewer: a new fan "Guy" (UK) - I purchased a pre order of this via Nick Garretts website. When it arrived I put it on my CD and now I'm ordering it AGAIN from Amazon for friends and family as an 'extra' Xmas present. All I can say is I hope it does arrive before Xmas. I did enjoy Nick in Amici and he has a voice that is very special appealing to men as much as women. The choice of his repertoire I found fascinating.... Radiohead I thought? Then I listened to his interpretation of EXIT MUSIC and thought how very inspired. I JUST HAVE TO BREATHE is a masterpiece of simplicity. SALVA ME an incredible and full bodied piece showing his power as a bass baritone and his ability to compose. He has an ability to draw the listener in and for that listener to actually 'listen' to lyrics of a song and to be 'surrounded' by a single voice. No gimmicks. Pure and simple and absolutely a winner.... no wonder Amazon have to re-order !! All power to you Nick Garrett and it's a joy to listen to your solo single debut and thank you for your music.
Pure Brilliance, 7 Dec 2006
Reviewer: S. Fahey (UK.) -
I have to agree with the other reviews, this mini album is absolutely wonderful.Nick not only has an unmistakeably rich bass-baritone voice, which enhances every track, but he is also responsible for all the arrangements on the album and even the lyrics on two of the tracks. He has a great talent when it comes to combining classical music with more modern lyrics and he chooses to cover songs that you perhaps wouldn't expect, which gives the album a unique quality and adds to the overall brilliance of it.
I find his work very moving and thought provoking as he manages to say through music, what so many of us find hard to express in words. The power and passion in his work is evident as soon as you hear it and there is not one track on the album I don't enjoy.
Sorry to disagree with a previous review, but in my humble opinion, this mini-album is worth every penny of the asking price and more! If this is just a taster of what's in store for the full length version, I hope we don't have to wait too long for it.
THIS IS PURE CLASS !! , 26 Nov 2006
Reviewer: Victory "vvvvv" (Florida) - Even if you've no idea who Nick Garrett is you should buy this CD...why?.... because it isn't everyday a guy comes along with a voice like this. He has the most astonishingly brilliantly rich and smooth velvet chocolate baritone which is both powerful and gentle. Once you've heard it it simply hooks you from the heart. I bought his albums when he was part of the opera band and now his debut Cd is showing us why he did go it alone!!!! No wonder.... who needs others when you sound like this. I adore the 5 tracks he's selected and the 3 he does to piano are so pure and unspoilt that it's almost like he's singing right in front of you!! I like the fact that the album has a mix of full orchestras and just Nick and his piano.. goes to show you don't need full orchestras to wash over you all the time if you have a voice like his and are able to sing from your heart.
My favourite has to be I Just Have to Breathe which is a Bacharach piece that I'd not been familiar with.
The tracks are all very special and different, no cheesy covers that have been done over and over which makes a refreshing change. Nothing Xmas'y either (so Mr. Ansell you got that wrong with respect)
It makes a change to love every track on an album - all 5 are winners !!!
Gorgeous, sexy, divine!! Prepare to be garretized!, 26 Nov 2006
Reviewer: L. Evans "lyrical_lynz" (Lincoln) -
After constantly listening to the song previews on Nick Garrett's website, I can tell that this album will be absolutely incredible. I have mine on pre-order and I can't wait to get my hands on it.
The album tracks themselves may be small in quantity but are HUGE in quality!! That is what matters. You will fall head over heals in love with Nick when you hear his chocolatey-divine voice!! |

Lately it takes 4 plays of the CD to get me home through traffic... it is such a calm ride home too when I listen to Nick, even stopped swearing at all the stupid things you see people do out here while driving. |
