he is a young Aussie guy, almost 24 years old, has an amazing voice, was one of the 12 finalists from Australian Idol series 2. Such a sweet guy too, I have met him a few times now. I am going to tell him I love this song, getting addicted to it, I will be honest here.

Actually in the last few weeks, he has been quite busy, performing the Aussie National anthem before one of the A- League soccer finals here in Australia- Sydney to be precise recently, also one of the cricket finals, Australia vs England at the SCG, he performed the English national anthem.
Last year, I think it was at Aussie Stadium in Sydney, he also performed the Aussie national anthem, thankgoodness that one was shown on tv, you know it was just so nice, seeing someone you are familiar with on tv, performing- the others weren't- the soccer one may have been shown on pay-tv, but I had found out too late anyway that he was going to be there.
Shame he lives in Sydney, I am here in Melbourne, he has some gigs coming up, singing solo with the Strathfield Symphony Orchestra in Sydney, his dates are on the Myspace page. I would so be going up to Sydney if I could do so, but unfortunately I cannot. They are on the 18 and 25 March. He is still studying music by the way at the Australian Institute of Music in Sydney, not too sure how much longer his course is.
I absolutely think he has an outstanding voice, especially when you see him performing live. I did love his voice on Aussie Idol, but I was blown away, when I have seen him live. Not only that but he is such a sweet young man too, I have met his dad also, he is a lovely person and lots of fun to talk to.
Maybe one day he will get the opportunity to do more gigs down here in Melbourne.
Oh one of his forum members did go to the cricket when he was performing and she said he did a gorgeous job of the anthem.

look in the section Capers Richmond, live shows.
The songs marked with a D are the ones Dan is performing. It was a gorgeous show, we got to meet Dan's dad also, he is a lovely man, very proud of his son. I have not met the rest of his family.

I must tell you exactly how I met Daniel. The first time ever was up in Bega, he performed along with Chanel and some of her other friends at a charity event which raised money for the local hospital up there in Bega, on the Southern Coast of New South Wales, here in Australia. This was a couple of years back now, I think 2005. Loads of Chanels fans went up for the weekend also, it was a very social occasion. All very lovely people too.
We were up there for the whole weekend, Saturday evening was the first time, my friends and I got to meet him, it was after the Karaoke evening they had at the Bega RSL, we went up to him and introduced ourselves from being from his forum. Once he knew who we all were, he gave us all huge embraces and then he chatted with us for a good ten mins or more, he is a very friendly and lovely young man. Basically he greeted us like he had known us all forever.
The Sunday of that weekend was the actual concert and wow I totally was not expecting how powerful his voice was, even though I did attend the series two Idol concert at Vodafone Arena here in Melbourne. At that concert in Melbourne, he performed "YRMU", "Sway" as a duet with Chanel and "Shake Your Tailfeather" with Marty and Courtney also from Idol series 2. Even the people seated behind us, at the Bega RSL, I heard them comment upon how awesome they thought his voice was, and he sounded so much better than he did on Idol. I got goosebumps for sure. Personally he didn't sing enough for my liking that evening, I could happily have listened to him some more.
After the concert we met him again and again we received huge embraces from him, and also a kiss on the cheek, but it was kind of harder, because security were rushing to get people out of the place, so they were kind of giving everyone "the evil eye" and begin to lock up, but still it was so awesome of him to not leave the place with Chanel without saying goodbye to us, he was not caring that the security wanted us all out, neither was Chanel, she was still hanging round chatting to people also. We also made sure we got to say goodbye to Chanel before we left the building. We had met Chanel earlier on the Saturday morning, in the streets of Bega, she was lovely, then I bumped into her again in the ladies room of all places in the Bega RSL and we were chatting in there too. Hehe later on that evening, she proceded to introduce me to Daniel, who then told her, that he had already met me that evening. That would have been about half an hour or so previously. I thought that was really nice of her, she is such a lovely person also, I enjoyed all of her performances on Idol 2.
So up to that time, it was twice I had met him. The next time was about six months later, when he and Chanel came down to do a show at Capers, which is a Theatre Restaurant type of venue, in the Richmond/Hawthorn area of Melbourne, about ten mins or so out of city centre, inner eastern area.
The show was really lovely, they performed some really gorgeous songs, many standards, well known song, it is a cabaret type of venue, some from musicals (in Daniel's case) they actually did two evenings there, but I could only go to the Saturday evening show, pity I would have loved to have gone on the Friday also.
I was with some other friends, some who had not met him before, others who had, who are also from his forum. He remembered me by name from the last time and again he gave me a big hug and then he sat down with us all again after the show and was chatting away for quite a while, his dad was there also that evening, his dad is also lovely to talk to. Then before we left the venue, again he gave us all huge embraces and he thanked us all for coming.
Now that explains why I am delighted to hear he has been getting the opportunity to perform the National anthems before some major sporting events recently and last year. Those recent ones like I said were before the second final at the Sydney Cricket Ground between England and Australia- but his performance was not shown on tv-booooooooooooo. Also before the A-League soccer finals- the game was in Sydney, but that was only telecast on pay tv- another thumbs down that I didn't get to see him perform, then again I had not checked into his forum for a few days, so I missed out on that piece of news anyway.
The performance I did see on tv was last year, he did the anthem before the Wallabies rugby game vs England, I think it would have been during June or July and it was telecast on Channel 7, Australia, the match was on at a very reasonable time of evening too, something like 7.30pm or 8.30pm. I know nothing at all about rugby, but I made sure I was watching for his performance. It was lovely. There was supposed to be another performance before a rugby match or was it a soccer match, think it was the latter and we were meant to be playing the team from Kuwait, but the plug was pulled on doing the anthem, because the organisers could not find anyone to perform the Kuwait national anthem, so that was a shame.
So basically now, I am looking forward to hearing how his performances go with the Strathfield Symphony Orchestra in a couple of weeks time up in Sydney. Believe me, if I lived in Sydney, I would be there, they are afternoon performances, I think. I would love to be able to come back and give a report on it, finances are not good to be flying up to Sydney right now. I shall be there in spirit though. I hear he is performing "Ave Maria","Nessun Dorma" and also "Nella Fantasia". All of these songs I adore.
I think he would be wonderful in musical theatre myself, but I just love hearing his voice.

Ok I found out how the performance went on Sunday afternoon, Dan performed Nella Fantasia and Ave Maria, but he had the flu and was just shaking it off, so Nessun Dorma was out of the question this weekend. The performance went well though.
However next weekend, this coming Sunday, he will be performing it as the finale, along with Nella and Ave Maria as he is now feeling so much better. Sounds like the orchestra was wonderful too, a 50 or 60 piece orchestra in the Strathfield Town Hall.
Sounds great, I only wish I was able to go up this Sunday for the performance in Sydney, but this course I am doing absolutely has me almost snowed under.

I just found a posting by one of Daniel's fans, she went to the concert on Sunday.
She said the concert was brilliant, the orchestra superb. Daniel got thunderous applause, he did all three songs, Nessun Dorma was the finale, and she said there was not a dry eye in the house. She was saying his voice is even more powerful and rich sounding than ever. Wow it was really powerful at the Capers Restaurant gig I went to with her a couple of years back.
I think she encapsulated her thoughts on the show very well and made us all feel like we were there. She also said he received bottles of champagne or something.
But she didn't say whether she got to catch up with him or not, she knows him a little bit just like I do and he gives her hugs too whenever he meets her. I will just have to ask her, if she did.
