Last Sunday I took a little ride through the desert going east to Tuscon.
It's only about 2 1/2 hours worth of a drive and it's much more enjoyable if there is a price at the end. My price was to see the Ten Tenors Live and it was worth it!
Since I am such a new fan to them and the only CD I have of them is larger than life - I had pretty much no expectations of what I would experience. The most unfortunate part was my seating...up in the balcony where the sound was not all that favorable when they spoke and I could not see them very well at all. But still it was wonderful - the 'mmod' was melancholic with short interuptions of Queen covers (they ROCK) Bohemian Rhapsody and Who wants to live forever and some explanation on how to spot a French, Russian or German Opera (could not hear all of it, so I am sorry if I can not recount the 'lesson') Then there were songs like 'Places' and Somewhere in Time as well as more classical pieces like Largo al factotum! But it was Nessun Dorma from Turandot that got you to experience THE most incredible goosebumps you have ever had!!! Hearing them sing it live was more than worth it!
There are two reviews on TTT's website that so nicely discribe in short how most people felt with the Ten Tenors being here in our neck of the woods for the very first time...I think they just might have conquerd the southwest of America!!
Well done Boys' hope you will come back some day!

aww novice I'm glad that despite the view you still enjoyed your first TTT experience. I'm a relatively new fan too,(have quickly worked on ebay to build up my cd and dvd collection), I have not seen them Live but have seen their concerts on DVD, and I'm glad that even after the new 'serious' album they have still kept some fun elements in the concerts. Very Happy

Hi novice, good to hear you enjoyed the show. So is it true that they did Rawhide and Dancing Queen (again)? Read it in one of those online reviews.

I agree, Nessun Dorma is a wonderful piece of music, and now that Liam sings it I like it even better. Smile

They did Dancing Queen as part of the refrain in Bohemian Rhapsody, just a line or two but not the full song... made me laugh because some elderly ladies behind me never heard of ABBA but knew Queen...they got slightly 'confused' as they had never heard 'Queen sing it that way...', don;t remember hearing Rawhide but from what I heard they had a few variances for the time they were there...so they may have done that on a different day, maybe as an encore?!

Wink
