|
|
All of you are no doubt part of your favourite artist's fan club / website / forum....do you have a name for yourselves?
For example, Nick Garrett's fans are the Garrett Girls or Garrett Guys
Il Divo's fans I believe are Divas and Amici Forever's fans are Ammis
What names do you have for the artist you support - or what names could you think up for fans of other artists? |

on RWUK, we call each other Russellers - this is Russell Watson fans
also on there is the White Scarf Ladies. They wear White scarves to concerts to make it easier to find each other and new members to meet old ones at the concerts. Im not a WSL tho, just a Russeller |

Although we don't use a term in general (Aled calls us "the gang" or the "mad ladies with red buckets" when we are collecting for Hope House), but we did collect some "Aledese" at some point, most of which might be boring to others, or may give a good laugh. I'll list some here, and if you like it I can list more later!
ALEDESE
AJed - being decked out in numerous badges
ALEDETTES: - Ladies of all ages who like Aled (a lot) and are to be found on the Forum / fanclub at all hours of the day and night!
ALAD - gentlemen who are very keen on all things Aled!!
ALED Ambassador - someone promoting Aled to the uninitiated.
ALEDapathy - people who just can't be bothered to find out how great Aled is!!
ALEDing: reading or posting on the forum or fanclub.
ALED Fest: An Aled-Fest consists of:
- multiple opportunities to go to Aled concerts
- listening to radio programmes with Aled presenting and/or singing
- meeting Aled in person
- listening to Aled's recordings
- watching Aled on TV (a lot)
ALED Free Zone: Countries where Aled's music is
- generally unknown
- not heard in the media
- no media coverage
- no sale of CDs or books
- no concerts
ALEDgenic -some get the desire to listen to Aled already from the genes (a very incurable thing!)
And there are plenty more where that came from if you are interested!

Over on Nick's site we use the term "Garrettized" to refer to anyone who has been converted to Nick's music or just Nick himself! It has also been known for fans to develop "Garrettitus" too - that is the next stage of being Garrettized!
more severe symptoms!
I like the Aled Jones phrases though, maybe me and my fellow Garrett girls can think up a few more for Nick. |

Oy you! Don't go pinching...
Right, to stop any chance of copying too closely, here are the rest:
ALEDifying - keeping up with Aled’s forum goings on
ALEDisms: The cute, funny, jokey, sayings Aled comes up with almost everywhere he is heard - at concerts, on TV / radio programmes etc, recorded during the shows and then entered in the "Aledisms" files on the fanclub for all to enjoy
ALEDitis - if you love to listen to Aled just 24/7, then you probably are "suffering" from something incurable and highly infectious
ALEDministration - there cannot be any overdoses with Aled's music, especially when the listener is ill!!
An ALEDrenalin rush - the feeling you get on hearing him sing.
ALEDstetize -to introduce someone else (or oneself) to Aled's music...!
ALEDy - the malady of lacking enough of an Aledfest
ALEDnosis - ditto
AL-EDacious (looked edacious up in the dictionary and it means desirable and insatiable, he is and we are!)
All ALEDed-out! - phrase used after seeing/hearing Aled several times in one week!
All Things ALED - obvious
An ALED-entulous Grin... vaguely medical / anatomical; an edentulous mandible is one from an old person with no teeth left... and Aled certainly has a gorgeous cheeky, toothy grin...
Keeping up with the Joneses - browsing the forum
The_one_who_sings - why it's Aled of course and it's his forum name!
SupercallefragilisticexpeALEDacious - The hills are alive with the aledsinging
(V)ALEDation: the signing of books / CD covers etc., by Aled, adding his own ALEDure to them.
What you can make of a name! |

They are great Xbons - I particularly like the supercallefragilisticexpeALEDacious! that is so funny!
Let's see what names and terms we can come up with for some of these other artists....I think you'll all have to try hard to keep up with the Joneses though (another way of using that phrase!)
Come on Garrett Girls - let's see what you can come up with and lets get our own "Nicktionary" started |
