Hi All,

Katherine will feature in a special on ARD German TV on Saturday August 12, in a TV show called "Herzlichen Glückwunsch - Die Michael Schanze Jubiläumsgala"

The programme will be 2 hours and 15 minutes in duration and start at 8:15 PM (7:15 Britisih time). Apart from Katherine, a number of other well-known artists will appear, including Chris De Burgh (celebrating the 20th anniversary of "The Lady In Red"), Roger Whittaker (celebrating his 70th birthday), Angelika Milster (celebrating 35 years on stage) and Ivan Rebroff (celebrating his 75th birthday).

"Herzlichen Glückwunsch" means "Heartiest congratulations" - and when you read the above, you can understand what type of show it is.

So why was Katherine invited? She is congratulated on being the first female singer to win the Classical brits 2 years running:

This is the text (in German) on the ARD site (translation follows):

In diesem Jahr gewann sie erneut den Classical Brit Award in der Kategorie „Bestes Album“! Damit ist Katherine Jenkins die erste Sängerin, die zwei Jahre hintereinander mit der begehrten Auszeichnung geehrt wurde. Die attraktive Waliserin präsentiert als deutsche TV-Premiere den zehn Jahre alten Welterfolg „Time To Say Good-Bye“!

This year she once more won the Classical Brit Award in the category "Best Album"! That makes Katherine Jenkins the first female singer honoured with this much sought-after award two years running. The attractive singer from Wales presents the 10-year old world hit "Time To Say Goodbye" as her debut on German TV.

Just one comment - of course Katherine was on German TV last year in the Live Aid concert from Berlin, so this isn't really her debut. But from hhe point of view of being recorded specifically for a TV broadcast, yes, it can be classified as her debut.

Naturally, my recorder will be primed that day. I have a secondary interest in Ivan Rebroff, as he duetted with Yulia Townsend two years ago in New Zealand (which I believe was Yulia's first public performance in New Zealand).

I am going to be busy recording that evening, as I believe there will also be a live Proms broadcast on BBC TWO that evening - one that features Dutch violin player Janine Jansen. I hope they aren't on simultaneously! (In that case my choice will be for Katherine though!)

(which of course is in German).
