This is just up the road from me. When they have the Proms evenings, I can hear all the fireworks! I won't be able to go as it has fallen at the wrong time for me, but do hope you all have a wonderful time! If you haven't been to Stanstead Park before, then do leave enough time to have a look round. The cafe do lovely light meals. (recommend the quiches, but if there are quite a lot of you, it's better to book) There are some beautiful grounds (the peacocks make a noise!_ ) as well as the house, and a light railway, plus nursery which sell different sort of plants. Enjoy yourselves everyone..I know you will and hope the weather stays fine. It's very hot today. xxx |

Oh yes - lots of people went!! a few thousand more than last year apparently... can't imagine why that would have been...
It was a lovely (if very long and hot) day - a great atmosphere with a very enthusiastic crowd - we got a smashing set from the boys - 10 songs in all including Rule Britannia and Land of Hope and Glory - which was a nice surprise!
The only downside was the sound system seemed very erratic - there were times when you could only hear Jon - and others when the fans singing sounded louder than G4 but that may have had something to do with our being at the very front and not in the greatest position for acoustics....
The orchestra was wonderful - especially the first violinist who was having great fun
Stephen Bell (conductor) finally decided that we were all completely bonkers when the whole bunch of G4 fans spontaneously started joining in with La Donna e Mobile (I don't think he realised that the boys had been teaching us to sing it on tour...) Jon could hardly continue singing because of the huge grin on his face and I think it pleased them no end (although we really are going to have to get the hang of the second verse one of these days! )
Roll on Bedford Proms!
