Post subject: PERTH CONCERT ON 9TH MAY - O WHAT A NIGHT !!
I saw Patrizio in concert last night at the Burswood Theatre – he is such a fabulous entertainer and it was full on from the moment he came onto the stage. As the lights started to dim, there was a roar from the audience and we kept on clapping, etc until Patrizio came onto the stage. I can’t remember the songs in sequence, but he sang most of them from his album. I think he started off with "A Man Without Love".
He made heaps of eye contact with everyone and came into the audience twice – he shook our hands and kissed some of the ladies on the cheek, and even danced with one of them. He came and sat on the edge of the stage and sang to us and that was nice because I was only a couple of feet away. He just oozes charm and don’t we love it.
A lady with two little girls came to the side of the stage and they gave Patrizio presents and he gave them both kisses and said he loved presents and that was one of the best parts of the job. I think next time he comes here, he’ll get heaps of pressies.
His album and DVD has sold so well here and to be able to bring in big audiences after only one album is a huge achievement. "The Italian" reached #3 all albums.
He came out with a shiny black jacket and black trousers with a white shirt and black scarf tied loosely to look like a bow tie. He said he was nervous for the first few numbers. He had us singing and clapping with all the faster numbers. He danced quite a bit with some of the songs, and he dances pretty good too. He took his jacket off a few times and you can imagine the response from the fans. "That's Amore" was really great - it started off at the normal pace and then Patrizio jazzed it up and danced really great.
He sang four songs from his new album which he has recently finished recording at Abbey Road with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. They are : "Let’s Make Love" / "Forever Begins Tonight "/ "Quando Quando" / "You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me". He didn’t know when it would be released, but thought it would be around September/October.
He changed into a white jacket with a black shirt and black scarf and red handkerchief in the pocket and sang some more songs. One was called "Maria" (not the one from West Side Story).
His band were great and they were really enjoying themselves and most of them did solo pieces, apart from the string section. There were no backing singers and that was fine.
One of the highlights was when Patrizio sang "O Sol O Mio" sitting on a stool and playing the guitar and accompanied by the band's guitarist – very different to how we normally hear it. A platinum version of "The Italian" has been released here recently with a second disc, and live recording of "O Sol O Mio" is on it. I'm going out to buy it today.
Just before the final encore, he changed his jacket again to a brown one. He finished off with "Il Mondo" and as he was walking off the stage to a huge standing ovation, there were tears down his cheeks. I truly don’t think he thought Perth would welcome him as they did. Perth was the first of the Aussie concerts and there’s a second one tonight. He did a signing after the show and I got my program signed. There were so many in the queue and the security people kept things going smoothly. When I got there, Patrizio said no more photos – he’d have been there half the night. From what I've since heard, I think it was about 1 am before he finishing signing. One of the girls from Patrizio's fan site waited right until the end and eventually got a photo taken with him and then he danced with her.
There’s a few different t-shirts you can buy as well as mugs and the CD.
People were taking photos right throughout the concert and when Patrizio saw the cameras, he’d pose. At the end of the concert, he got his band to stand near the edge of the stage with him and pose for the cameras. He said that even though we weren’t supposed to take pictures, we’d paid to come and see him, so why not (or words to that effect).
The support act was Mark Sholtez, a young Aussie jazz singer. He sang mostly original songs, but he connected with the audience after about the third one. Think he’s got a good future. Jazz isn’t my favourite genre, but I really enjoyed his singing.
I went on my own and was a bit apprehensive initially, but I was sitting next to a couple of girls and we found we liked a lot of the same artists. One of them gave me a lift home and we exchanged email addresses and I think we’ll become friends.
It really was a night to remember and he loves Australia (has family here), so I think we'll see more of him in the future.

I am reporting about last night's concert here in Melbourne.
Like Trish says, Patrizio is a wonderful entertainer and we Aussies absolutely adore him and he adores his fans. What can I say about the show that has not already been said, I simply cannot wait for his new album to come out. Everyone else who is about to go will be in for an absolute treat. I was seated further back in the stalls- row V at Hamer Hall (Melbourne Concert Hall) in the stalls, but had a perfect view of Patrizio all evening. He performed just so many songs, all the same ones that Trish has mentioned- think he actually only left one off from performing from his debut album and that was "Soli". All good things must end of course, but I loved the concert so much and wish I was going to the one next Thursday, when Patrizio again comes back to the city of Melbourne.
He had tears in his eyes by the end of his show, esp with the standing ovations, but he came back on and performed another encore and he got this little boy up from the audience, cuddled him and took him over to the piano, hugged him again and the little boy was doing the lalala's in the song, so adorable and Patrizio had been given a koala from a lady in the audience, but he asked the lady's permission if she minded if he gave the koala to the little boy. It was a beautiful moment, I got tears in my eyes from that too.
So ladies and gentlemen reading this, even if you just like Patrizio remotely, go and see him performing live, you will be in for an absolute treat, whenever he gets to perform somewhere nearby you.

I perhaps didn't enjoy Mark as much as Trish did, but that doesn't mean he is not any good, it is not my style of music really. I came into the theatre, when Mark had already been on for a few mins. People here in Melbourne, were just politely clapping Mark, I am not sure if they liked him or not, or whether it was just that we were all so eager for Patrizio to hit the stage and wow hit it he did, like Trish said, it was full on here in Melbourne too, from beginning to end.
please give Mark a listen to too, don't let me put you off: I too wish him every success in the future.

I had some lovely Italian ladies sitting next to me here in Melbourne and my mum was on the other side of me. Those ladies were singing the next lines of Pat's songs even before he was, they were enjoying themselves immensely, I love it when the people around you are enjoying the show as much as you are, the atmosphere is so much better.

Yeah that really was a special night wasn't it Yvonne. I loved Patrizio's voice the moment I started listening to "Il Mondo" on the CD in the store, and I love the DVD, but going to the concert really deepened the love I feel for this wonderful performer.

He is a wonderful performer and if I didn't love him so much before his concert
(hehe)
then my love too deepened also after seeing him perform.
To those who left his concert in Brisbane, shame on you.

Excellent reviews Trish and Yvonne. The only time I have caught Patrizio on TV was on "Dancing with the Stars" last year some time I think! His performance certainly was impressive and he is going to go a long way with his charm and presentation. Hopefully next time he tours Australia he will come to Adelaide. Cheers Tony
PS: Trish - I bet you didn't expect to see me on here

there are two little pics of Patrizio in the June edition of Sain mag, the free mag from Sanity stores, on the same page is a small pic of Alfio and a bigger one of Kane Alexander (with two ladies, kissing him on either cheek and he looking mighty happy about it too), just in the first couple of pages. Patrizio is wearing dark glasses in both pics.
Just straying off Patrizio for a sec, this issue also features a music interview with Kane Alexander (whom I saw before ID and he was mighty impressive also, but I had already heard of him, before many of the other Aussie Divas had and I love his Cd also. If you want you can read all about Kane too, I put posts in about him in the general chat section, along with Alfio.
