Post subject: Kane Alexander- ID support act- audio samples-Sydney instore
This is the article I found in the Sunday Herald Sun on March 12- a Melbourne newspaper about Kane Alexander who supported Il Divo during their Australian leg of their world tour.
Enjoy!
A Classic Outcome for Kane
Early Ambitions are fulfilled as this young singer is poised for stardom reports Paul Stewart.
A country boy from Victoria's back blocks finds an old case of opera records that inspire him to become a singer.
He follows his dreams and becomes the youngest ever vocal student at the Victorian College of the Arts, before trying his luck in several small New York jazz clubs, eventually landing an international album deal with a major record company.
The singer's first album is assembled by the team of producers behind albums by Madonna, Jessica Simpson, J.Lo and Enrique Iglesias.
After three years of grooming by Sony BMG , meet Australia's latest heart-throb, Kane Alexander.
Touring Australia accompanying international opera crossover act Il Divo, the young singer reflected on his home town, the Victorian hamlet of Nandaly (near Swan Hill).
"It was an isolated place really," Alexander said. "My life changed the day I found grandma and grandpa's old 78 records in a dusty old box in the shed. It had music by Slim Dusty and Ella Fitzgerald and the Black and White Minstrels, but it was the album by Mario Lanza, that just blew my mind.
"I was instantly hooked and decided then and there I wanted to be in music all my life".
Alexander said that while he still "played footy like any other country kid", he was always eager to race home to practice singing.
"It was Mario Lanza, who took opera into the mainstream, whom I loved, even though my cousins all hated him and could not understand why I would listen to him.
"I still love my football though, and a dream would be to sing at the AFL Grand Final."
The young singer said he had decided to "jump in the deep end" by enrolling at the VCA and becoming a student boarder in Melbourne while continuing his secondary education on top of his musical studies.
"I was 14 when I went down and I think I am still the youngest person to enrol in the VCA" he said.
"After finishing that , I decided to try my luck out in New York and I got several jobs singing in small jazz clubs. I have never actually worked in any other occupation except entertaining. I have tried my hand acting in theatre shows and on television, but music is my first love".
After returning to Australia from the US , Alexander said he had the idea for an act that would take classical music into the mainstream.
"This was years before Il Divo", he said. "I was not blatantly cashing in on their success.
"I went to the Head of Sony records and sung for him and luckily for me-he signed my on the spot".
The young singer, who can perform in Italian, Spanish and English, said it had taken three years to produce his debut album. "It has been hard waiting so long, but we wanted to get it just right." he said.
"Working with the great producers in Sweden was a great experience. They are huge names and proven hit-makers."
Alexander, who desccibes himself as "a classical singer", rather than an "opera singer" expressed thanks to the four members of Il Divo.
"I am very grateful for all the exposure I am getting by playing with them, because I know I am virtually unknown here,"he said. "They are all nice guys"
Alexander said he had one simple wish for his music.
"I really want people to be moved by it", he said. "I want people to be swept up and taken on a journey through my music.
"People once again want music that takes them to a higher, emotive place, that stirs them and moves them."
Spirit song: (this is the bit beneath his pic)Kane Alexander wants to move people with his music.
Well I had seen him performing a couple of years in a row on Carols By Candlelight here in Melbourne, and some other programs- such as Good Friday Appeal concert for the Royal Childrens Hospital, so I was quite familiar with whom he was and how fantastic his voice is also, so I was very delighted to see him as supporting act. I can list some of his musical theatre shows that he has appeared in also, such as "The Wizard of Oz", "Footloose", "Hair","Les Miserable" among others, plus a few tv stints on shows such as "Water Rats", "Stingers".
you can learn more about Kane from
www.sonybmg.com.au
www.allegromusic.com.au
( couple of sample songs and a biography on Kane).
his website which is not up and running as yet is

and you can currently join up the mailing list.
His debut album is out April 30th and can be already pre-ordered through
www.sanity.com.au
www.hmv.com.au
also Virgin Megastore
there was a full page advertisement on Kane in the Il Divo tour programme here in Australia.
the songs he performed in his set before Il Divo came out were:
"How Do I Live" made famous by Trisha Yearwood- sung in either Italian or Spanish and English. I think this is on debut Cd.
Second song- no idea of title, but was sung in either Italian or Spanish. This is on the Cd, I am sure. Gorgeous song anyway.
Third song and this is definitely on the Cd- "Let It Rain", absolutely gorgeous song, I had my tissues out for this and hehe Il Divo had not even hit the stage, I was supposed to be saving them for them.
Fourth song, he did a version of Roy Orbison's "Crying" this was fantastic, but I am thinking this is probably not on the Cd, but we shall wait and see.
Fifth and final song- he performed "Kiss From A Rose", I have never been overly fond of this song, but Kane performed it beautifully, don't think this is on the Cd though.
Another gorgeous voice, everyone, that deserves to be heard. Pretty good looking guy too, not sure how old he is though, but he has been around for a while performing in musical theatre and on the jazz/cabaret circuit in New York, before returning to Oz (his musical theatre credits are from here in Australia).
That is all I know for now.

I have the song list now for Kane's debut album
1 Escape
2 Come Vivrei (How Do I Live)- (he performed this before Il Divo)
3 Timeless (duet with Tina Arena)
4 Di Sole E D'Azzurro
5 Nella Fantasia
6 Everything That I Am
7 Le Cose Che Sei Per Me (The Things You Are To Me) (Theme From A Secret Garden)
8 Crying (he performed this before Il Divo)
9 Kiss From A Rose (he performed this before Il Divo)
10 Let It Rain (he performed this before IlDivo)
11 Breathe
now I am not sure if his other song before Il Divo hit the stage was number 4 or number 7, but let me assure you that everyone of the five songs (even though I am not a huge fan of "Kiss From A Rose, but he did a lovely job of it) was a lovely song and I cannot wait to hear the others.
the songlist is now on the
www.sanity.com.au
site and can now be pre-ordered.
the songlist has not yet appeared on the
www.hmv.com.au
site, but it can be pre-ordered.
Also on the
www.sonybmg.com.au
site, you need to type his name into the search engine, because as yet he is not appearing in their drop down menu, but when you put in his name there is a gallery of three pics to look at.

you need to type Kane Alexander into the search engine, but there is a live video of him singing "The Prayer" along with Sylvie Palladino at the annual Christmas Carols here in Melbourne, Australia- Carols By Candlelight and there are two other songs as well, but I just don't know what they are. I am sure someone will though.

Kane's audio samples of all tracks on his debut album are now available at
www.sonybmg.com.au
I particularly love "Come Vivrei" (How Do I Live Without You), "Crying", "Let It Rain" and "Timeless"(duet with Tina Arena), he performed three of the above mentioned songs, in his set of five songs before Il Divo hit the stage here in Melbourne and of course in his supporting act at all Australian shows on Il Divo's tour.
I also found out from Anthony Callea's site that Kane will be performing on the Australian "Dancing With The Stars" in the next couple of weeks, not sure if it is this coming Tuesday evening, or the finale episode. His album is out on the 29th April anyway. Channel 7, Tuesday evenings at 7.30pm- Australian tv.

Kane Alexander will be appearing at Virgin at Castle Towers (In Sydney) on Saturday 13th May at 1pm
I think he may very well be on Dancing With The Stars- Australia this coming Tuesday evening, I saw something mentioned about it on Anthony Callea's site. There are only two weeks to go of this current series- series four and I know from reading the Herald Sun today that the Aussie Idol girls- Kate, Emily, Paulini, Ricki-Lee ( no mention of Casey Donovan on this tour) are performing on the Grand finale episode on May 9th. So keep a look out for him on Tuesday, hope this info is correct, although I have no reason not to believe that it isn't.
Kane was Il Divo's Aussie support act by the way and his debut album is out tomorrow, so it would make perfect sense.

Well I think it is an absolutely gorgeous album, well done to you Kane. I just wish his site was up and running.
Now he has even made me love a song, I previously hated with a passion, so how is that??- "Kiss From A Rose".
I absolutely adore "Let It Rain", "Escape", "Crying", "Timeless" (he sounds fabulous with Tina Arena). I had that Cd on yesterday for over two hours. I adore all the Italian songs.
I got mine from Sanity, I was in a bit of a rush on Saturday and Sanity was the closest to where I had to be, I know I should have gone to JB, it is a lot cheaper there, but it doesn't matter, it is worth it.
In the Cd sleeve he thanks Il Divo and their team.
The Stockholm Symphony Orchestra play on his Cd and the arrangements are just lovely.
Give this album a listen, you will be hooked by his mesmerizingly beautiful voice.
