None of them. Jon Christos doesn't impress me. The Choir Boys will be very short lived, Joseph McManners is yet another little choir boy and Aled Jones... I don't like Aled Jones. At all.
As for Emma... I haven't heard anything from her What is she like? |

I wondered why there was no Aled section when I joined - for me, he's one of the original crossover artists, he's been doing it for years!
I'd love to see an Aled section added - he has a wonderful following, the ladies over on his official forum are superb |

| I couldn't agree more, Kerry - surely he IS the original! I find it very odd that he is not here. |

Hi everyone, lets not forget this is not the final line up of classicalx artists, others are always being added. Everyone finds it odd that their favourite wasn't in the starting line up, but there's so much more to look forward to and so many more artists to be added - it's all ahead |

Hi xcept,
We realise, I am sure, that other artists will be added. But, in Aled's case, it is not just about whether or not he is a favourite - it is that he is the one, surely, who invented crossover!! - 20 years ago, when he was in the classical and pop charts and brought a "classical" voice to the notice of the general public. And has continued the same - and remains in both charts with all his adult CDs. Others, including Kerry, (who I don't think I know!) have made the same point because it does seem odd, as he began it all! And has helped to introduce to the general public some of the artists who are on here. That is really why it seems an odd omission at the moment. Let's hope he is the next to be added.....!!

As Xcept has already stated - there are many more artists to be added. We appreciate you feel he should be here and he probably will be soon (along with others) - the idea of ClassicalX is to meet the needs of it's users and there is a process in place to achieve that.
There are good times ahead for the promotion of 'classical crossover' music and those artists that make it what it is. |

| I think my vote has to go to Emma Shapplin. She's had a varied musical past and I think her new single has an excellent sound to it! Would be great to hear more about her. |

| I agree, Jon is by far the best, I love Aled Jones as a presenter but frankly his voice is not a patch on Jon's. Even the classical world rate Jon, he's been compared to Caruso for goodness sake! I'm a HUGE Russell Watson fan, but for Opera Jon has become No.1. |

| Perhaps on a board like this the words "in my opinion" should be used more often. I love Aled's voice - "in my opinion" it is a patch on anyone's and I was not overly impressed by Jon Christos who I also saw at classic response last year. But I fully respect the fact that others do like the other singers on this board and would not usually be writing in this manner myself (implying criticism of other singers and by implication of their fans) except that I myself am answering a negative comment. |

Bonita you are totally right and I offer my apologies to you - I worded my response very poorly . It is all so personal, I agree, and I very much respect Aled's talents, I just personally prefer the quality of Jon's voice. |

Thank you for the apology, gump. I just feel very strongly that on an individual's fan club board people can say what they like about other singers, by definition, they think that their man or woman is "the best"!
But on a board like this, where there are fans of many, my own opinion is that negative thoughts about the others are usually best kept to yourself. If not you risk losing the goodwill of those who like the other artists. What we can do on a board where we know that people enjoy such a range of artists is add to the knowledge if we come across something - I have posted about articles about other artists on here and TV /radio apperarances of people who do not particularly interest me but I know interest others - and would hate to think I get to feel " I have had had enough of this, I won't bother any more" (this is not the first time this has happened and I have objected if that makes you feel better!) Maybe the saying "if you can't say something nice don't say it" holds on here!
I've discussed this with a fan of someone else who posts here (yes, we do speak to each other!) - and we agreed that why a certain singer "speaks" to you is difficult to say, but certainly singers do "speak " to different individiuals, and there are a lot of us on here who respond to the different artists in different ways and rate their voices differently. That is inevitable on a board catering for such a range. Which is why it is so interesting! |
