Thanks for posting that, xcept. As I went last year, I was sent the flyer early, and as I was in London, went to the RAH to book 4 tickets. The booking clerk looked very confused, said he knew nothing about it, I showed him the flyer, he looked it up on computer and agreed it was to be on. They had at that stage sold no tickets, so I had the choice of the whole Albert Hall! (never to happen again!) Laughing

The line up seems to have been added to - according to the classicresponse site it is now:

Aled Jones and Myleene Klass presenting, then Alex Prior, Amici Forever, Amy Nuttall, Becky Jane Taylor, Cantamus, The Choirboys, Emma Johnson, G4, Harry Harris, Joseph McManners, Julian Lloyd Webber, Nicky Spence, Operababes and Russell Watson. Apparently Aled is also due to go to Ghana for classicresponse so there should also be another film.

Last year Aled sang as well as presenting, so I really hope it is the same this year. And the audience was a bit difficult to warm up last year, so anyone going - cheer the presenters on this year to liven up the atmosphere from the beginning!

Anyone else hoping to go to the concert? Very Happy I have a ticket, and am hoping to make it. Very Happy I seem to remember Aled fans wear something special. Is is brooch? Can you remind me and I will look out for you. I shall wear my white scarf that some of us Russellers on RWUK wear. Very Happy

Hi -Great to be on this site - looking forward to catching up with more Aled news - he is meant to be presenting Songs of Praise here next Sunday - we actually had a 2005 programme last week, so hope this is also catching up on his recent presenting on the programme. How lucky to go to a concert at the Albert Hall - as someone who grew up in London, this is a very special place and of course Aled has appeared there on so many occasions. Prices are a bit different today - used to go up in 'the Gods' in those days for two shillings - bet there is no one on this site that can remember those days.
Looking forward to 'meeting' you all again.
regards Faith

Hi Faith,

Glad you made it over! You didn't explain that you were "down under" which is why you hear SOP at a different time!

One of my memories of the RAH is when I took an American friend, can't remember how much it cost but it was an awfully long time ago! We were up in the Gods also. They finished with the 1812, and I was blissfully ignorant in my then stupidity that they finished with cannons fired from the top arches, and asssumed - well I don't know what I assumed. But suddenly these enormous bangs went off right behind our ears and we both nearly fell over the balcony. I still jump when it happens e.g in a classic spectacular, but at least I know now! (and still jump!)

And 30 years later (that is telling my age!) he came back to sing at the First Night of the Proms with the Washington Choral Society; we met and he got me a ticket - but in the stalls. We said then that when we originally went to watch we never dreamed he would be back to sing there Razz !

G4 also went to Ghana at the beginning of March for a couple of days to see the work that's been done over there since last year's concert. Here's the link if you want to read their diary and see the photos:

We'll be cheering as loud as we can - it's what we do best! Aled is indeed presenting again this year, with Myleene Klass this time around. Should be a great night that will hopefully raise lots of money for such a worthy cause.

Thanks for the link, Kerry, that was interesting. When I first saw G4 were going I wondered if they were going instead of Aled, he is obviously so limited in the time he can be away with a live radio show every Sunday am plus the other TV and radio commitments for radio 3 and radio Wales plus Songs of Praise plus other TV work! But then when we saw him at Swindon I understood him to say something about yellow fever jabs to go to Ghana. So I wondered if they were all going together - it seems a waste of resources to send them separately. But maybe it is only G4 after all, and the film will be based on their visit - we shall see no doubt!

The audience did cheer up a bit last year as the evening progressed, but I have to admit it was slow! There were lots of quips from both Jamie Crick and Aled, but not much reponse at the beginning. Crying or Very sad So we will have to do better this year.....

See you there!

Looking forward to it Bonita.. there are fair few of us G4 forumers going.. we're renowned for our enthusiasm so we won't hold back this year (we were quite last year as we were kinda new to the whole thing but we've had a bit more practice now!)

Very much looking forward to seeing Aled again.. it's been far too long!
