Bryn Terfel’s Faenol Festival Gala New Year’s Day, BBC2, 7pm

'Bryn Close To Home' - due to be broadcast in the Spring of 2009.
The series, commissioned by BBC Wales' Music department, shows Bryn visiting places close to his own home in North Wales that he has either never visited or has not been to for a long time. In each location, he gives a musical performance, showcasing his amazing vocal talent.

Diners at the High Timber restaurant in the City of London are in for a vintage night. The Welsh baritone Bryn Terfel will spend tomorrow evening working as a sommelier, for a Radio 4 documentary. Terfel says: “I am mesmerised by the skill of a sommelier at work, so the opportunity was something I could not pass up.”

| Bryn Terfel, accompanied by Malcolm Martineau on piano, at the Usher Hall concert (23 Aug) at 8pm is sold out. The concert will however be broadcast on BBC Radio 3's Lunchtime Concerts programme at 1pm on 2 September. |
