this little snippet was in The Sun newspaper

Lorraine Kelly ~ the Sun wrote:
Many congrats to IL DIVO for topping the US singles chart. They are talented men who sing like angels and work like dogs.
Purists deride their pop opera but Il Divo have introduced a whole new audience to classical music - some of whom will go on to listen to meatier stuff. And this will help keep classical music alive.
I hate the patronising attitude that makes people scared of ballet, opera and "the arts."
Mozart was the Robbie Williams of his dat and opera was meant to be enjoyed by all, not just snobs. It's time we claimed our culture back, and Il Divo are doing their bit to help.

I agree with Lorraine's views about classical music being for everyone Very Happy

One thing she didnt say was what song it was that they topped the chart with, anyone know??

she probably meant the classical style of music, as truthfully it is a lot of crossover that gets people into listening to classical

Congrats to Il Divo - I'm not a fan but it's good that a crossover group have got their album to No 1 in the USA.

Yes, it is. I assume that's why she said she's not an Il Divo fan Wink It's just her signature though, so it will appear on every post of Kerry, no matter what it's about. Smile

BTW... welcome to Classical X, Russnme. Very Happy

Yeah sorry, that's just a pic of the fabulous boys in my signature - didn't mean to confuse anyone!!

And I don't dislike Il Divo because I'm a G4 fan Wink I don't see them as being similar artists and think that there is plenty of scope for both of them to be successful, they're just not my cup of tea. I wish them every success though Very Happy

Kerry xx
