Post subject: David aims to take America by storm
The record company have now started the build up to the launch of David's career in the USA.
Here is some of the promotional material, in advance of the June release of David's first CD in America.
It will not be "Encore" or "Virtuoso" - simply "David Garrett"

There is more news about David's promotion in the USA.
This is an announcement from one of the TV studios who will be hosting the premiere of a DVD about his recent concert tour, in particular the performance in Berlin.
*****
Next Wednesday, April 8 at 8 p.m., WLIW21 New York Public Television presents the exclusive broadcast premiere of DAVID GARRETT: LIVE IN BERLIN. Hailed as the David Beckham of the classical scene, young German violinist, David Garrett, weaves classical standards with rock and pop favorites in his first U.S. concert special.
David Garrett is poised for American superstardom and will be live in the WLIW21 studio on Wednesday, April 8 at 8 p.m. During the two-hour broadcast premiere, WLIW21 will offer exclusive tickets to David Garrett´s April 22 concert at City Winery in New York City!
Born in Aachen, Germany in 1981, David Garrett is noted for being one of the first students to study under legendary violinist Itzhak Perlman while at The Julliard School in New York City, from which he graduated in 2004. Already a huge star in Europe and the Far East, Garrett´s star shines brightly particularly in Germany, where he has played sold-out arenas, and garnered two gold discs for both of his records released there. On the famous Last Night of Proms in the UK, he played to a crowd of 40,000 people, and also appeared at the legendary Royal Albert Hall in an impressive six concerts in seven days. His sole album released there became a Top 20 chart fixture as well.
DAVID GARRETT: LIVE IN BERLIN will premiere nationwide June 2009 on PBS (check local listings) in honor of the June 2 release of Garretts self-titled Decca debut. U.S. audiences will see and hear first-hand what the rest of the world has already discovered: incredible technique, incomparable skill and unrelenting passion for the violin. For more on David Garrett and the full broadcast song list see below.
Thanks for your support,

More on David Garrett
David´s back story is as equally intriguing as his music. Born in Germany to an American ballerina mother and a German lawyer father, he was a true child prodigy. At age eight, David was being booked to play as a soloist in front of some of the worlds greatest orchestras. When he turned 13, he was signed to the most prestigious classical music label in the world, Deutsche Grammophon. As a teenager, he ached to escape the confines of classical music, and the grueling career he felt he could no longer sustain. Without telling his parents, he fled to New York to sample life as a normal adolescent, and discovered the temptations of city living. The classical violin was put aside in favor of rock music, clubs and girls. Eventually his passion for the violin returned, and on a lark he auditioned at the world famous Juilliard music school. He was accepted, and to his surprise, taken on by legendary violinist Itzhak Perlman as a student. Taking odd jobs for cash, David found himself working as a busboy and later, modeling. Effortlessly, he eventually landed in the pages of Vogue, and the Fashion Week catwalks for Armani, all the while pursuing his musical dreams. With a multi-faceted international career, arresting good looks and charisma, it´s not surprising that David landed a deal as a global brand ambassador for Banana Republic, appearing in their 2009 national advertising campaign for spring/summer, âCity Stories. Additional endorsements overseas include the brands Audi and Montblanc. Dubbed, as the fastest violinist in the world, by German paper Kolner Stadt-Anzeigere, David will be in the 2010 Guinness Book of World Records as the fastest-ever performer of The Flight of the Bumblebee, clocking in at a blistering 66 seconds. Lauded conductor and Kennedy Center Honoree Zubin Mehta put it best when he said, David Garrett is surely going to have a resounding presence on the music world of the 21st century.

The CD was released yesterday and was supported by television appearances on PBS (public television)
I had a look at the Amazon USA sales charts this morning (before many of the Americans will have surfaced) and the CD was already at number 109.
That is a fantastic start
Congratulations, David.

The news just got better
"David Garrett" (the American CD which contains tracks from both "Virtuoso" and "Encore") reached number 1 in the Classical Charts and is doing exceptionally well in the mainstream charts.
Congratulations, David.

Post subject: David Garrett In LA---Oct 15
Some impressions:
The El Rey Theatre has a capacity of only about 700, so the setting was a nice intimate one. The set-up was much like a nightclub: a clearing in front of the stage with half-table booths all along the sides and back, and a balcony as well. We were able to get seats in the third row of the group of chairs directly in front of the stage---very good vantage point! David started his program as he is wont to do by entering from the back, playing as he walked. And frankly, I can't even remember what he was playing, all of us were so overwhelmed by drama of his entrance! David proceeded to wow us with playing of the music, largely from the repertoire of his DVD as was seen on PBS. Being so close in proximity to him and the wonderful sound system of the venue gave us an unforgettable experience; we "felt" each note, and gave much credence to the oft-repeated line, "It's so much better in person!" I really appreciated the fact that David took the time to explain a little about each tune, personalizing each one and giving us a little more insight into the man and artist.
For you fashionistas out there, David wore his trademark hat, black t-shirt, black slacks, ankle-high boots, and a black blazer. The hat and blazer came off quickly as David played with such energy and commitment, and the temperature of the venue was a little on the warm side. Or did it just "seem" warm?
The audience was deeply appreciative of the artist and rewarded each song rendition with a zealous round of applause and enthusiastic cheers. And at the end of the performance, David received several standing ovations, which of course, prompted his encore playing of "Flight of the Bumblebee," and "Somewhere." And even then, the crowd wanted more; we could have listened all night long.

Thank you so much, SueCorb
This is a fantastic report. It certainly sounds as though he is capturing the hearts and minds of the Americans just as much as he has won everyone over here in Europe.
Let's hope he goes on from strength to strength
The only downside is that he will not have time for us in the UK (or maybe even in Germany !!!!)
And if anyone else reading this forum has seen him, please consider either writing a review on the other section, or a report on here.
