I was visiting the village of Beddgelert in the Snowdonia National Park, North Wales last Tuesday 29th July 2008 when I came across the Fron Male Voice Choir filming an Ad. for their new CD Voices of the Valley Home. They said it was to be released in November but I have since found it advertised on Play.com with October 27th as a release date. We were walking from the village towards the grave of Gelert when we saw a crowd gathering on the other side of the river. The Fron had gathered on a green and formed into a two row a semi-circle in front of some terraced houses, appropriate I suppose for an album named Home
It had been raining heavily all morning but the TV cameras were pushing ahead with the filming. The choir stood around with umbrellas and raincoats/ponchos but as the choir lined up to start rehearsals the sun started to come out. We then had an entertaining hour with the choir singing “Wonderful World”, “Home” (with Will Martin getting a solo spot in the song) and John Lennon’s “Imagine”. After such a taster I am looking forward with great anticipation to the releases.
There must be something about their singing that brings out the sun as I believe the same had happened in Chester when they did BBC2 Busking Challenge.

How wonderful annjay! Thank you for sharing the story. I'm not surprised that even the weather was brightened by the choir!! |

Two Little Boys track
Rolf Harris has been investigating his family history for a BBC documentary "My Family At War" to be broadcast as part of the 90th anniversary of the Armistice. It follows Rolf's father and uncle who fought closely alongside each other in the Great War and the story deeply reminded Rolf of the scenario depicted in the emotional lyrics of "Two Little Boys". The Fron Choir and Rolf Harris have collaborated in a new recording of his signature song "Two Little Boys" and it features on the Fron Choir's CD "Voices of the Valley - Home"
