I can't begin to tell you what a fantastic day I had yesterday - don't really know where to start, unless perhaps with the main man himself, and if you are reading this Jonathan, then WELL DONE and thank you for helping to make it such a lovely day.
I arrived from the station at about 2, and followed the sound of the orchestra round to the back of Marble Hill House. I walked through what was obviously going to be the gate, but hadn't yet had the barriers put up, and found myself in the arena watching the orchestra rehearsing . Shortly after Marian and Margaret arrived, then more familiar faces appeared, till there were about 15 of us. We heard the conductor say that they were going to start with Natasha, as they hadn't seen Jon yet, so we were worried that we wouldn't still be in there when Jonathan appeared. But then, as Chelle has already told you, the miracle happened, and they closed the gates off, leaving us inside!! Tickets scannned, the security guy said we could go to the front, so no questions asked, we scuttled down the hill as fast as we could, and began to set ourselves up. At this point I looked to the side of the stage, and saw a familiar and gorgeous face beaming at us . Jonathan had appeared from nowhere and was sitting at the side of the stage waiting his turn!
After that things just got truly surreal-there we all were, parked in a row in our chairs, watching the star of the show do his stuff. Every so often we got a grin or a look-even that look on occasion, (making full use of those eyes Mr A ), and if he wanted approval by God he was getting it. It was just so cool to watch the whole process-at one point he was really studying his page of lyrics, and by the performance he was word perfect, so the studying paid off When they started to play "E Lucevan LE Stelle" I couldn't believe my ears-what a treat!!
Photos and videos were happening, I was phoning my mum-who was out , And none of them objected one bit. It was just so fabulous I couldn't even get up to walk to the loos because I still had the shakes .
After they'd all disappeared we ate, drank, gossiped, compared photos, generally had a good time-then the evening proper started, with everybody on stage all glammed up. I have to agree with Chelle, this was the best prom I've ever been to, and not just because of our special preview. The music was wonderful, the conductor was a revelation-I'd thought I'd miss Stephen Bell, but this guy was obviously loving every minute, and it was so infectious By the end everyone was on their feet singing along-his can can was very good, his costume changes amazing-Jonathan called his sequinned tails "a wicked jacket"! Natasha looked lovely' liked most of her songs but have to say I thought she was a bit underpowered on WWTLF, and it needed Jonathan to come out and rescue it.
As for Jonathan-WOW! on form or what?? Nessun Dorma thrilled as always-Heroes was sublime, My Own True Love-sung to perfection with a last note that went on forever . Brindisi-with Natasha-was lovely, he really gave it some welly, but the standout for me was E Lucevan Le Stelle so, so beautiful and heartfelt-I can't wait to hear this on tour and on the album Jonathan seemed to really enjoy Jerusalem -beaming from ear to ear, and encouraging everyone to sing along, and by Land of Hope and Glory the stage was besieged!
Fireworks after that-more music-I think the conductor could have gone on all night .
Huge thanks to all of you there for such a fabulous day-thanks Jan for the VIP pass, thanks especially to Marian and Margaret who drove me home, to the lovely accompaniment of Jonathan and G4, (no, we didn't kidnap him, but we wanted to!!), and mega thanks to Jonathan for being a star Can we do it again please-very soon!!

Thanks for a great review Suz, glad everyone enjoyed it and that Jonathan was on top form (when isn't he)? He's so lovely and gorgeous.

Tried to leave a comment on his page, but wouldn't work for me, so thanks once again, I always look forward to the reviews.

Love Modaisy
