"...on 2 July 2008 - Nicola Benedetti scooped the classical award.

Nicola Benedetti, who was presented with her award by musician Alfie Boe, had just returned from Spain and China where she was performing.

She said: "China was incredible and has some amazing halls, but I'm not too sure about the food.

"It was funny because Chinese concert goers are not used to staying quiet and there was a bit of noise as I played. They are a very dedicated audience in Spain though..."
