July Update

Hey everyone.

I have been mad busy recently, as the album and promo really get going. I am about half way through the vocals for the new album now. I am so excited about it. It has some real magic about it, some crazy high notes and really lovely interpretations of amazing songs. It won't be too long now till I get to hear them with the orchestra mixed in too, as we are off to Prague this weekend and early next week to record them. That is when the magic really starts to come together! I love sitting there and hearing them playing on my album. It's a huge buzz and it may be possible to record live with them at the studio over there. Which is really awesome, to be able to lay a track down like that is a really exciting way of capturing a moment.

I am going to be busy with a lot of live shows soon too. I am hopefully going to see a few familiar faces as I travel around for the summer proms show and also The Night at the Opera tour in Oct/Nov. But a new addition to the diary is my role as Nanki Poo in the Carl Rosa opera company's production of the Mikado. I am playing in their Richmond and Birmingham shows in Sept. So if you would like to see me in a way you have never seen me before then that's where you should head. I will be in a mad costume make up and I am sure a few dance steps thrown in for good measure.

I have just done a photo shoot last week for the album and campaign artwork. I will be looking at the contact sheets tomorrow. So let's hope that I like them! It was a really good day of shooting. And I am sure that you will be pleased to hear that I have my normal hair style back. No heavy gel this time, pheww.

That's all for now.
Much love, Jonathan x x

Thank you for putting the blog up Xcept Smile

Nearly half way there on his second album and how exciting to go to Prague to hear the orchestra combine with his voice - hope he gets his wish to sing live with them.

Lucky enough to be going to The Mikado and Night at The Opera and sure he will do the Carl Rosa Opera Company proud and be invited back another time - it will be nice for him to be a member of a group for a while, very sociable young man.

Back to looking like Jonathan again - thank goodness for that, now everyone will recognise him. Think he might have noticed the pleading.

Was brilliant to see this yesterday and he sounds so excited in this blog - you can always tell Wink

I hope he has a wonderful time in Prague and gets to have some time off while there as well. Be great if he could do a track with the 'live' orchestra as 'Che Gelida Manina' on the last album was brilliant when done that way !! Wink

Looking forward to his Proms, Tour and 'The Mikado' - just hope he can contain his giggles when he sees our reaction to him all done up for that one - should be a hoot !!! Laughing Laughing

Studio Update

Hi all,

I am sat in Angel Studios recording the choir for 'Forever', they are fantastic and I am just smiling from ear to ear!
Ironically we are recording them in the same studios where the X factor boot camp took place all those years ago. So some really mad memories are flowing back. I have to say that I am so pleased that I don't have to wait to know if 'I am through' before I can leave.
Prague was amazing. A stunning place to visit, the huge castle, Charles bridge, lovely food, very cheap beer and some lovely weather. The orchestra sounded incredible, playing with such beauty and passion. I was lucky enough to record some vocals live with them too. It is so much fun singing live with a 60 piece orchestra. Finishing the trip with some rather strong Becharovka shots after dinner. Dangerous stuff.

I can't wait to see a few faces at the Petworth Proms on Saturday. Let's just cross our fingers and toes that the heavens don't open. And we get a balmy summers evening show. I am tapping my head while writing this (touching wood)

Chat soon x

August Update

Hey all, I am sat in the mastering suit in Metropolis Studios, listening to the finishing sheen being placed onto the album. I love hearing it on the amazing speakers they use here. They are huge and make the sound feel so broad and exciting - like I am singing in the room. Shame I don't have some at home. But guess that 3, 7ft tall by 3ft deep units would overpower the living room.
It all seems so mad when the album is at this stage. It means that it is really happening!! I can't wait for the final CD, with artwork in my hand. Only a few weeks to wait. I hope that some of you caught the Barcelona performance on Last Choir Standing. I really enjoyed myself singing it. There is something magical about Queen’s music.
I am really looking forward to my busy autumn. So many varied things; The Mikado, the album release, A Night at the Opera. And loads of TV and promo opportunities in between.
Next weekend I am singing at the Don Black tribute show, for his birthday. Hayley and I are duetting on Amigos Para Sempre. It will be great to sing at the London Palladium for the first time, especially for such an amazing event.
I heard that Come Dine with Me is being repeated on E4 tonight, so you will have the chance to see me burn some things all over again. Can't wait for the release date of Forever, not long now till the 6th Oct. It's always the maddest thing being able to go buy your own album from the shops. It still makes me feel so odd. In a good way though. I have been going on for long enough now.

So bye for now.
Love to you all, x x
