Thought Jonathan did brilliantly on tonights show -well done that man .
Jonathans interest in the music and the stories behind the music and his enthusiasm came across beautifully I thought .I'd expected Jonathan to be a little uncomfortable given the circumstances the show was recorded in but not a bit .
Well done Jonathan
Listen again Link

Bravo Jonathan! I thought he was absolutely wonderful!
Who would ever believe that he only had a few hours notice to do that - and was working from someone else's script - and bravo Aled Jones for such an excellent script too!
It's hard to take in how far Jonathan has come in his young life - thinking of him as a teenager battling dyslexia and bullying - and then to hear him presenting so beautifully - I feel so proud of him.
The whole show was a delight.
The orchestra was stupendous as always - I loved especially their Gordon Langford Tango!
The Classic Buskers were brilliant and such fun - loved their Offenbach - brought back memories of playing that on the piano.
Paul O'Neill was a great tenor - I would love to hear Jonathan sing the Faust song that he sang. I have to say though - Jonathans Che Gellida Manina cant be beaten for me - there's a delicacy and pathos that Jonathan expresses in the words and melody that makes the heart ache..... touches me everytime I listen.
Elizabeth Watts was excellent - I love the laughing song!
I even enjoyed the interval hugely - I was a fan of Amen Corner - loved If Paradise is half as Nice...... must look up that album coming out on Monday....
Well done to Jonathan and how lovely it was to hear his laughter a couple of times!
He gets better and better with every experience - well done to him - he can feel proud of a job done well and doing Aled's great script justice!

Thanks to xbons, I was able to listen and am listening again now.
Jonathan did a fantastic job. with such a short notice . Very clear about what he was saying with good tone and pace, knowing what he was talking about with names in different foreign languages. I especially loves the Italian ones.
Considering the audience you say, middle aged, his presentation is more formal than the one I know. He sounded perfect for the occasion
I still prefer the other style, even me being middle aged and would have loved to hear all 'lovely errors' you mentioned that's our Jonathan
I hope he gets invited again, with little more personality of himself, me hoping |

You will love it Mandy.
He was wonderful. Did himself, Aled and us very proud!
And not only him - the whole show was excellent.

| Heard this today via my tape recording of it from my VCR...so pleased that the audience responded to Jon and the 'distinctive' commentary he delivered!! Liked his admiration for all of the artists, giving each his 'personal perceptions' of them as he introduced each one before their individual performances (this to me was evident during the 2nd half of the show, seen in full flow too.......GREAT STUFF JON, hope your improved presentation skills is a 'regular' feature as far as Classicfm is concerned!! |

I'm a little puzzled at some of the comments on here. As has been pointed out before, the script was researched and prepared by Aled, not Jonathan. Jonathan would not have had time to do any preparation; a good deal of work goes into the research and preparation of the script so that it fits around the music to be played. This is done beforehand, and Aled had done all that.
If Jonathan is indeed asked to do a FNIMN from scratch, then he will be asked to prepare the script himself, presumably; and then you will hear a "Jonathan" script |

Aled's preparations were excellent as always xbons
Jonathan's interpretation and presentation of the material/script was equally wonderful. It must certainly have made it more difficult to use a script prepared by/for Aled who has a very distinctive style and Jonathan was excellent at stamping his personality on it despite that. So the praise is well deserved! |

I totally agree with you xcept. Jonathan did a brilliant job at such short notice. We were fully aware he would be using Aled's script and with that in mind, it couldn't have been easy for him. I am not sure how some of the comments have puzzled you xbons.
Jonathan's presenting style is very different to the Jonathan we know face to face whether he prepared the script himself or not. He comes across well on radio and with time, he will be as seasoned and relaxed as Aled is at it. _________________ Marian X

Aled is a well seasoned presenter and with such short notice Jonathan would never had had time to research for a script of his own, but I'm sure if he is asked to do this show again on his own merit, then he will hopefully have time to do his own research and script as part of a new learing curve for presenting radio shows
I think he did a good job of it for the short notice he was given for a 'newbie' with Aled's script _________________
