I hope everyone has a great night too.
Sadly I cant go - but I'm so looking forward to the whole show on TV on the 15th.
And especially to hearing Jonathan and Hayley sing their duet!
Love Molly xx _________________

With so many big names appearing at this event, I think this will be an evening to remember for a long time.
As well as seeing who gets to take home the Brits, I am looking forward to seeing all the performers that are scheduled to appear throughout the evening.
I'm sure anyone who is going to the event is going to have a wonderful time and I look forward to reading all the reports afterwards. |

SPOILER - NO NOT READ FURTHER IF YOU WOULD PREFER NOT TO KNOW THE LIST OF WINNERS FROM THE AWARDS YET!!
The winners announced so far are...
Nicola Benedetti wins Young British Performer! Fopish Lawrence Llewellyn Bowen presented the award to her with typical style and aplomb.
Steven Isserlis receives the Critic’s award. In his acceptance speech, he thanked the usual people, and added in a twist: He thanked the master himself, Bach. Playing Bach to him is the pinnacle of a professional career, like playing King Lear is for a stage actor.
Anna Netrebko wins female artist of the year, presented by a female artist of the century, Annie Lennox!
Music transcends the ages, and the musician who won Male Artist of the Year does too. Sir Colin Davis is 80 years young, and scooped up his gleaming award with relish echoed by the presenter Jane Asher.
Best soundtrack award went to the score for the movie Blood Diamond. Have a look and a listen: CLICK HERE
Andrew Lloyd Webber gets the birthday present of a lifetime. For his 60th Birthday, Michael Grade presented Webber with a special award for Outstanding Achievement In Music. The award comes nearly 25 years after the composition of his Requiem Mass which won a Grammy for Best Contemporary Classical Composition. But he didn’t stop there, Webber’s musical legacy continues to included unparalleled success in musical theatre for which he has become famous through the world. What a genius.
All male group Blake wins NSI album of year for their self-titled debut. The lads met almost a year ago today, and collected their award on the anniversary of that auspicious coming together. They dedicated their award to the voting public. |

The biggest show in the history of the Classical BRIT Awards featured performances from Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman who reunited for a rendition of ‘Canto Della Terra’, cellist Steven Isserlis performing Bach, Suite No.5 in C Minor ‘Sarabande’, soprano Anna Netrebko with ‘Les Filles de Cadix’.
Josh Groban performed ‘February Song’ followed by a rendition of ‘Navarra’ a piece for 2 violins performed by David Garrett and Valeriy Sokolov who were accompanied by Chinese guitarist Xuefei Yang. Hayley Westenra and Jonathan Ansell took to the stage to perform ‘Un Giorno Per Noi’ .
Sarah Brightman returned with Andrew Swait to perform ‘Pie Jesu’ in recognition of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Requiem. The show came to a close as two of the world’s greatest operatic talents Andrea Bocelli and Anna Netrebko performed together for the very first time singing ‘Brindisi’. The London Chamber Orchestra conducted by David Charles Abell accompanied all performers.

Just back from "the Brits"; it was great to see so many classicalx artists represented there, either as performers or nominated for awards. And best of all, as winners!!! - Blake and Nicola. Well done to them!
A "proper" report / review will follow

I just wnated to say I was very dissapointed with the results of last nights classical Brits.I can't believe that Cortes didnt get best album, he really deserved it. Hopefully he will get something next year. |

It was a great evening, enjoyable as itself, and enjoyable for those who did not win as well as those who did. Personally I think it was great that two classicalx artists won their sections and celebrate that, and we should be congratulating Blake without any reservations on what was their moment of glory

I can understand your disappointment billi08 - as xbons said it will have been the same for all the fans of each artist who missed out this year. But it was Blakes turn to shine and they really deserved the award. Congratulations to all the winners |

It was a wonderful evening and so great to see so many of our Classical featured artists - and their fans. This was my first year at the Brits and I was glad to be with Xbons who is a seasoned pro at this event - it was also nice that she was writing the review as I could really sit back and enjoy whilst she scribbled away furiously. I'm sure she's written a wonderful review and you will be able to feel as if you were there in the audience with us.
It was lovely to meet so many of you - Hayley, Katherine, Jon and Blake fans and I hope you all enjoyed the evening as much as I did.
Out of interest - what performances did everyone enjoy? I loved Andrea Bocelli with Sarah Brightman and I thought Andrew Swaite sang beautifully with Sarah too.I enjoyed David Garrett's performance and I thought that Jon and Hayley song was simply beautiful. For me though the highlight was Andrea Bocelli and Anna Netrebko and also Josh Groban singing Smile.£ for £ we certainly got our money's worth with all those performers and seeing so many wonderful artists....I'm really looking forward to next year now. |
