Many of you may be aware that Blake members, Oliver Baines, Jules Knight and Dominic Tighe trained as choristers in their early years, but you may be surprised to learn just how many recordings they made - I was!
Oliver tells me that he and Jules were on all the Winchester Cathedral Choir recordings from 1991-1996 including the following...
A Christmas Celebration
Christmas Fantasy (Ollie recommends the piece by Gerald Finzi, In terra pax)
Blow: Anthems
This is a double CD of works by composer John Blow and apparently includes many of Jules' early solo pieces! You can also include many other recordings with pieces by Blow and Byrd and Faure's Requiem, which Ollie describes as perfection.
Ollie also did some recordings whilst at Marlborough College including;
Advent to Christmas
and with the National Youth Choir from 1999-2004, including their world tour CD and also work by Richard Allain.
Perhaps a CD most of you will be familiar with though is Karl Jenkins' Armed Man
Dominic appears on the following album with Ely Cathedral Choir.
Cathedral Music
Gregorian Chillout
This album also features Dom's brothers, Alistar and Charlie Tighe.
Most of these albums are still available for sale through amazon or other retailers and indeed some of you may already have some of these, but I thought you might find it interesting to see what other recordings they had worked on prior to joining Blake.

That Gregorian Chillout cd looks very good. I think I remember seeing that advertised. I'll have to get it! x _________________ 'A life in music is a life beautifully spent.' (Pavarotti) |

I've been listening to Natasha's album the last few days and have to say that the track that Blake sing with her is absolutely beautiful. It has always been a favourite carol of mine and I love how their voices all blend so well together. I thought I had got to the point with Blake now where I could recognise each individual voice, but on this track their voices are so much richer than I have heard them before - it is quite an incredible sound! |

My favourite carol, too, xantha - but then there is a special and unique version that just can't be beaten in my opinion!! But this is not bad, too!! |
