31 March 2008 -

Hi Everybody,

Firstly I want to apologize for leaving it so long to write. I’ve been crazy busy starting rehearsals for The Merry Widow at English National Opera which opens Saturday, April 26th. Things are going really well - love working with the director John Copley - he’s such a genius. Of course, I’d love to see as many of you as possible at the Coliseum. I’ll be the one with the dodgy mustache!

Also looking forward to my concert this Wednesday, April 2nd with the Philharmonia in Reading. I’ll be singing some of my favorite opera classics as well as some the Neopolitan music I love from La Passione. Should be good fun. Also performing gala concerts with the Philharmonia in Canterbury and Croydon next week.

As my management won’t let me forget to tell you: it’s not too late to vote for Onward for best album in the Classical Brit Awards this year. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your votes and support. It means the world.

Enjoying the spring weather when it’s not raining. When I’m not racing around between rehearsals and performance I’m chilling out at home trying to learn some Elvis songs on my guitar. Let you know how it goes.

Hope all is well with every one of you.

Lots of Love,
Alfie
xx

Richard Suart (who's playing Baron Zeta in The Merry Widow) was having dinner with Lucy Schaufer (she ran the ENO workshop I went to the other day) and he told her that rehearsals were going brilliantly. Smile x

Hi Everybody,
A lot of you have been asking how rehearsals have been going....Here's a quick update:
We moved into the Coliseum this week and things are getting really exciting. It's great to have the show onstage and lovely working with all the cast. It's been a busy week and feeling a bit knackered, but really happy with this production. It's going to be great. Can't wait for you all to come and see it! I love playing the comedic role and love my awesome top hat and tail suit...still learning to love my mustache!
Back to work, but talk to you all soon!
xx
Alfie

Quick Hello
May 1st 2008
Hi Everybody,
Sorry not to have written sooner. I've had a crazy last couple of weeks! Opening the Merry Widow at the Coliseum has been amazing. I'm really loving every minute of performances - it's such a great show and such a fantastic cast. I feel very fortunate. Also this week I had the honor of performing at Buckingham Palace for HRH the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall in aid of Children in the Arts, a charity I am a proud ambassador for. It was my first time at the palace and was a truly incredible, unforgettable evening. And a terrific honor as well to perform alongside a host of amazing artists including Renee Fleming, Sir Ian McKellen, Jude Law and Jeremy Irons. I'm looking forward to the Classical Brits next week and want say thank you again to all who voted for me. Hope all is well with all of you.
Much Love, Alfie
