Blog Number 4!

Hello, I'm writing to you this week from inside a cloud of post-radiotherapy positivity. I know it sounds corny but I try to take something from the everything that's happened to me, and over the last few years, a lot has gone on. First my throat operation, then two operations on my tumour and now – fingers crossed – successful radiotherapy treatment. Now that the treatment is over and it's been confirmed there's no damage to my optic nerve and my voice has been unaffected, I've decided it's time to look forward.

I've got this book to finish first, of course, and as well as all the mad and funny stuff you might expect, I'll be using it to set the record straight and say my piece on a couple of things. I might put one or two noses out of joint, but so be it.

Then, once that's done, it'll be time to move on with my life. I've already restarted my Italian courses. Plus, after a long break, I'm going to start playing the piano again. I'm also planning to do some more songwriting. Co-writing Someone Like You was a great experience for me and it's long been something I've wanted to try again. We shall see!
Right, that's it from me, so until next week...

Lots of love,

Russell
xx

Wow sounds like Russell really is taking life more positively especially as the radiotherapy has not affected his optic nerve or Voice.
I can't wait to read the book and great to hear he's not just a YES man and is gonna tell us what we really want to know even as he says if it puts some peoples noses out of joint.
And oooh piano, italian and song writing. Looks like some fun things might happen when he starts touring again. Very Happy

Wonderful to see blog No. 4 from Russell today and what a relief that his optic nerve and voice were not affected by the RT. It sounds like he is going to be a very busy bee with all the things he is undertaking now. I am so looking forward to reading the book - tell it like it is Russell even if you put some noses out of joint!

New Blog Entry!

I think I've missed a week, haven't I? Well, very sorry about that. All I can say in my defence is that I was out of action for a couple of days because I was in hospital for blood tests. This is what they have to do to check my hormone levels – it's like my post-radiotherapy MOT. Typically, my hormones were all over the place so I was given all sorts of medication to balance it all out.

Five or six days later and I feel a lot better. I saw the kids at the weekend, we watched Ratatouille (have you seen Ratatouille? I can highly recommend it. Great film for the kids), we played football in the back garden. (Hannah beat me 10-7. Allegedly) and even went to the shops – and I felt on top of the world. It was a great weekend.

Meanwhile, work continues on the book which is very, very nearly finished, plus there are all kinds of other plans afoot that I don't think I can reveal yet. Album (cough). Tour (cough). Watch this space!

Me too, Rainy, there was a very long silence which was worrying, but I'm glad it was for such a good reason - great to hear that Russell is making such good progress, and that he's having so much fun with his girls. Very Happy

That little cough of his is very intriguing! And exciting - dare we hope that his hints will become reality? Fingers crossed Laughing - keep up the good work, Russell!
