There's been a bit of a change to his March schedule too:
St John Passion with Fulham and Hammersmith Choral on March 15th no longer features Ben, but The good news, however, is that he's doing the same piece in Petts Wood, Kent, on both the 15th and 16th March. News to follow!

I was lucky enough to attend both of Ben's recitals this weekend in London and Cardiff - something I was very glad I didn't miss
He was accompanied by a young lady on the piano, American or Canadian I believe who was extremely good.
Ben opened with an aria from Handel's Messiah 'Comfort Ye'. I have loved this from when he sang it at Newcastle last year but I think he has perfected it somewhat as it was stunning.
He then sang a series of songs by Schumann - diverse pieces which really showcased what Ben can do with his voice, from soft sweet sounds to a more powerful, raising the roof tone - both done to perfection to my ears.
He sang another piece from the Messiah and a beautiful rendition from a work by Tchaikovsky - the name escapes me even when Ben told me what it was again later!! I must try and find a recording as it was right down my street.
He also sang a piece which he used to sing years ago when he started up - a simple tune that was very calming.
He did an encore of a very familiar track - Panis Angelicus. Sung to perfection and it it still ringing in my ears.
It was lovely to get to hear what Ben is very capable of doing and just watching him you can see he is really enjoying this side of music, it is where his heart is.
Bless him, he took time with us on both occasions for a chat and photos. I do hope he will continue with these recitals as it is a lovely way to appreciate this type of music and to hear Ben sing at his very best.
Now looking forward to his concert in Cambridge on the 16th - I would recommend this to anyone as tickets will be available on the door. _________________ Marian X

I travelled down from Scotland for the Cardiff recital - and it was worth every second of the journey
Ben has always had a beautiful voice - but I was delighted to see that he's progessed even further and blossomed into an extremely professional and accomplished tenor who is a joy to hear - stunning!
I was enthralled from start to finish - Llandaff cathedral was a lovely setting - the choice of pieces was just right and Ben's performance was superb!
The Tchaikovsky was Eugene Onegin (Lensky's aria before the duel ... the name of which escapes me but I'll look it up!) done with wonderful tone and feeling
I was glad of the waterproof mascara during Where E're You Walk and Panis Anglicus - both favourites of mine
It was lovely to be able to tell him so in person too - and to thank the lovely lady who provided piano accompaniment - she played wonderfully.
I see great things ahead for our Ben - I have my fingers firmly crossed!

I'd just like to agree with the above comments, Ben was superb, it was the first time I'd heard him sing without G4, and I thoroughly enjoyed the recital.
Ben's accompanist was excellent.
And to meet him afterwards was the icing on the cake, I did meet him in Cardiff last year, but this time was special because he was on his own and made time to speak to everyone.
A very good evening in a lovely setting.

Yet another musical feast was enjoyed on Friday night served up by Mr Thapa!!
Singing in the church where he served as a choirboy in his youth, Ben was in his element. The building was very Gothic in style but has great acoustics and quite a large audience lapped up his recital.
Not only were many of our friends there but also Ben's old singing teacher and a member or two of his family along with some regular members of the congregation. They must have been so proud of him tonight as he sang in German, Russian, Italian and English. - How does he do it?!!!
It was a brilliant way to relax and hear good music with friends after a very hectic week.
To cap off the evening, we were invited into the church house for a glass of wine and nibbles and Ben joined us for a while although he was limited for time. He didn't get to talk to everyone this time but I did manage to grab a lovely hug before he left.
I do hope that he will do more recitals of this nature as it a pleasure to attend _________________ Marian X

Ben has announced a couple of dates for later in the year.
He is returning to the Newcastle Civic Centre on November 23rd to perform Mendelssohn's Elijah
Ben will also be doing another recital at Our Lady and the English Martyrs Church, Cambridge, on October 10, starting at 730 pm.
Alas i cannot make Newcastle but I am really looking forward to see Ben again in Cambridge in his home town _________________ Marian X
