|
|
I thought this series needed a thread of its own....
The Great Movie Composers
Take a trip to the movies on Sunday afternoons at 4pm with our new takeover series 'The Great Movie Composers', presented by Jonathan Ansell.
Each week, the former member of opera boyband G4 will be paying tribute to the great movie composers of our time, concentrating on the life and works of one composer.
This brand new five week series co-incides with the launch of Jonathan Ansell's solo tenor career and the release of his debut album, 'Tenor at the Movies' on 18th February.
17 February 4pm - 5pm
This week, for the first episode in this series, Jonathan honours the man whose name alone has become synonymous with the very term 'film composer' - movie music master, John Williams.

I listened to Jonathan ,I found it very interesting ,lots of information about John Williams, and of course playing his wonderful film scores,
ET, Superman, Harry Potter, to name but a few ,
I think Jonathan enjoyed his stint as a presenter, he came across warm
and friendly, another four weeks to go ,and I am looking forward to
listening in

Thanks xcept. I really enjoyed listening in to Jonathan on this one. I thought for a debut presenter he did beautifully well - and was quite charming.
I listened in to hear Jonathan and came away loving the music of John Williams and knowing so much more about him.
Looking forward to finding out about John Barry next week.

Awww, Jonathan.....................what a star, so much more relaxed this week and good choices of music from John Barry.
Looking forward to next week's now
I think he's settling in more now and nice to hear him mentioned at the ads for his part in the ClassiFM Movie Album and a little snippet of 'The Godfather' too ! |

Really enjoyed the show today, John Barry's music is wonderful. Everything from Out of Africa to the James Bond themes. Particularly loved the theme from Dances with Wolves but had to stop myself singing along to this as my voice is nowhere near as wonderful as Jonathan's on Here's To The Heroes!!
Jonathan's presentation of the show today was spot on and he gave out a lot of interesting information about Barry that I never knew.
Looking forward to his show next week when he features Zimmer. |

A great show this afternoon!
I really loved the music that was played and I have discovered that John Barry is one of my favourite composers.
The music for Dances with Wolves is so beautiful - I kept expecting Jonathan to start singing Heres to the Heroes though!
And Born Free is made to hear Jonathans vocals on - maybe one day.
Beautiful music and a lovely presenter - what more could anyone want!

I have really loved these shows with Jonathan.
Today's was great on James Horner. I loved the music for Legends of the Fall and Willow.
So many great film scores - and Jonathan has been a wonderful presenter.
I cannot believe that next week is the last one - what will I do with my Sunday afternoons!

Hope he gets another series to do soon as Sundays just won't be the same after next week's final show |

Yes Cathy he really sounded like Jonathan today, best so far. Think it took a bit of getting used to for him, but he was doing his Jonathan chat which is a sure sign he is at home.
