Blake are releasing 'Hallelujah' as the third single from their debut album. The single is set to be released on 18th February, and hopefully will be a great success.

Is that the old Leonard Cohen song Hallelujah? If so that is a beautiful song. Will be interesting to hear it classicalised (is that a word? lol), as I've only ever heard it sung before by Rufus Wainwright and Jeff Buckly.

It is indeed Rainy, and if you've not heard Blake sing it before, you can get a sneak preview of it on Blake's page here in the audio samples section.Check it out and let us know what you think. Smile

I checked that out once I'd asked in here. Sounds good. I'm used to it as a solo song tho so the harmonies will take some getting used to. Blake are good tho, I hope it does well for them.

I know what you mean Rainy, there are certain songs sung by some artists, that just don't move me the same way when I hear it sung by others (even though they still give a great performance). One of the things I like about Blake is the way they harmonise so beautifully. Some of the songs they sing are perhaps better known for being sung by solo artists but I think their versions are equally as good, thanks to their unique harmonies. Very Happy

UPDATE: Hallelujah will be released as a digital download on February 18th and will be available from outlets like iTunes.

However, it will not quite be the version that you already know and love on their album as the guys have been back into the studios and recorded a new A Capella version of the song. Stephen told me today that recording the new version was like rediscovering the music all over again. He and the other Blake guys were extremely happy with the result and hoped their fans would be too.

Not long to wait now to find out! Smile

Just to clarify...Hallelujah is being released as a digital download and so will only be available from places like iTunes etc. You will not be able to buy it from high street stores like HMV or indeed online stores like amazon.

I am looking forward to hearing this new A Capella version especially after enjoying their original version so much. Smile I can't wait to hear what others think about it too. Smile

Will the digital release be worldwide? Or is it only for UK versions.
I am specifically asking US versions, I know of a friend who's Birthday it will be on the 18th. She loves Hallelujah very much, would be a great surprise if we could get her this version.

Blake's Hallelujah is also included on a new CD out tomorrow (18th Feb) called You Raise Me Up 2008. I'm not sure if it is the original version from the album or the new a capella version which is also due for release tomorrow, but the CD is full of great songs by very well known artists.
