Happy New Year!!!
Current mood: hungover
Category: Blogging

Hello all - time for another blog!

Hope you all had an excellent New Year. I spent mine in Soho with some friends. Am now in beautiful Barcelona on a wee holiday - shopping veto has been lifted! Went to the Nou Camp last night to watch a Barca football match - amazing. Will get some photos on here when I get home!!!!

Thank you for getting me to 100,000 hits!

Love,

Ben xxxxx

Gott Nytt Ã…r 2008!!

Just wanted to wish you all a very "Happy New Year" and I hope that 2008 is the best year we've ever had for all of us!

I'm really pleased to announce that the final amount raised for the Great South Run I did at the end of October is £3,235.98 - bringing the total I've raised for Bowel Cancer UK to a staggering £6,437.36...!! I want to say thanks so much to those of you who have sponsored me - it's very generous of you all.

Thanks for all your Christmas and New Year messages! They took me a long time to get through but I'm not complaining! I made a mistake by putting my status as 'melancholy' last week and so many of you sent me some very touching messages. I thought it meant something else, so apologies to those who were worried - there is nothing wrong.

The demo-ing of my songs is going really well. Although they're not yet finished, I'd really like to get a couple of them up on MySpace but I've been having problems with my computer converting them into mp3s, so as soon as I get that sorted I'll see what I can do.

I trust you all had a good time at Christmas and New Year whatever you were up to. I still feel stuffed full of food from Christmas, and what with the hangover from last night it's a bit of a strange feeling.

Anyway, here's to a great 2008!
With love
Mike x

With love

Brilliant idea Jessica Very Happy It's so lovely the lads are keeping in touch with us and we get to know what they are up to. I am looking forward to both Ben and Mike getting some of their recordings up on their myspace pages soon. Smile

Ben is making a couple of appearances in May in Ipswich and Cambridge so I hope I can get to attend both.

Great to see Mike has raised so much money for BCUK. He did very well that day in the cold and rain in Portsmouth and still took the time and trouble to speak to many of us who turned up to support him. Smile

I am also looking forward to seeing Ben run in the London marathon again this year, raising even more money for The Mental Heath Foundation. Smile

Thanks Jessica for starting this thread as Ben and Mike post blogs on a regular basis to keep us informed of what they are up to, unlike another former member of G4, who slips by the wayside every now and again !! Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Saw Ben in 'The Messiah' in Newcastle recently and he was really exceptional in his role and not even put iff by the fact that we were almost sitting on his knee, we were that close to him Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

Would be great to see him perform again and will be saving the pennies in the hope of going to see him once again and to catch up with 'old friends' at the same time Wink Smile

Don't think you could have got a lot closer than you did to Ben Cathy!! Bless him, he did so well with so many of us right up under his nose!! Laughing Laughing

It was so lovely to see him perform such a lovely piece of music, albeit so long a recital!!

Now, I cannot think who you are referring to when you mention the lack of blogs from former G4 members!! Wink Wink Exclamation I think a certain someone is very busy at the moment, don't you? Laughing

*groan*!!!!! You and your 'special pressies'!!!

I am still playing and enjoying every single song I have in my collection to keep me going but it certainly isn't the same as seeing the lads perform albeit together or on their own. Sad

Who was it who said "patience is a virtue"!! Wink Wink

New Year’s Resolutions?

Resolutions

Why is it always so irritating at this time of year when everyone feels they have the need to ask if you have any new year's resolutions? And yet it seems to cause so much frivolity and merriment? I do it myself, but who cares anyway? Especially as, since we're now in the second week of January, I'm sure many have been broken already, and therefore they are not resolutions. Maybe they should be called "New Year's Intentions" instead...?

So anyway, I just feel the need to ask...

Do YOU have any resolutions?

Thoughts please.

Love the pic that comes with Mike's blog Very Happy

Opera de Bauge and concerts
Current mood: excited
Category: Blogging

For those of you that are interested in my future engagements, here are some to whet your appetites...

MAY 16 - Recital at Church of Our Lady and the English Martyrs, Cambridge, 730 pm -

This is my own concert so the support of all of you would be splendid, this being my first concert in solo guise... It is not ticketed, instead we ask for a donation on the door at the end...

March 15 - Bach St. John Passion - Fulham and Hammersmith Choral Society, Venue TBC London

In addition, I have some exciting news regarding my casting as understudy to the fabulous tenor Ji-Min Park in the lead role of Belmonte in Mozart's opera Die Entfuhrung aus dem Seraglio this summer at Opera de Bauge in France... Ji-Min is currently a Jette Parker Young Artist at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, so the opportunity to cover him, learn from him and maybe even get on stage is something I am really looking forward to.

All exciting news!

No internet ;o(

Hi folks! How's things with you all?

Frustratingly, I've had no internet for over a week now and I don't know as yet when it will be working again. It's not until you're without something, you realise just how much you depend on it! I've managed to get on a computer to check my emails etc, so I thought I'd just post a blog.

Otherwise things are good. Writing like there's no tomorrow and just experimenting with different styles and moods. I'm going to be moving house again hopefully within a months-time. At that point I should be settled enough to see what I can do with my music, so we'll see.

Best wishes

Mike x

PS Any tennis fans here been watching the Australian Open?

Recital - Llandaff Cathedral, Cardiff May 3

Hi All!

Another recital in Llandaff Cathedral in Cardiff - this time on May 3 - the day after my London one. Do come - it should be a lot of fun in such a beautiful acoustic. The National Cathedral of Wales!

As per London, tickets are 12 pounds and are being organised by me. Please follow the same instructions as per my London Recital next on the list. For all you BATs out there, it's time to dust off the touring gear!
