Carl Riseley from Australian Idol series five

this latest season of Aussie Idol is drawing to a close and the two remaining contestants left to battle it out are Matt Corby 17 and Natalie Gauci 25.

However my fave of this year was the swing king Carl Riseley. I thought all of his performances were awesome, particularly his version of "Pure Imagination" on the "Doin It For the Kids" special on Channel 10, Australia a few weeks back, along with quite a few other Aussie artists and many of the other top 12 Idols of this year.

I do not know if swing/jazz qualifies on here, but I think that Carl is amazing and certainly worth a listen, his performances on Idol were extremely entertaining, he is a real showman. Probably not the strongest voice in the comp, but I found his voice so very relaxing, soothing and just beautiful.

Some of his idols include Michael Buble, Harry Connick Jnr, Donny Hathaway. He reached third place in Idol, the actual voting last week, well there was apparently only 4% between the remaining three idols, so it was very close.

rumour has it also, that Carl is going to get a recording deal, so watch this space, us fans are extremely excited by this prospect, so fingers crossed for that record deal and many many tours to come. We love you and your music, Carl. Keep up the magnificent work.

He is awesome one of the best Idols we have ever had, only wish he could have won. His voice is just gorgeous.

However he has great plans to make an album and go on tour, so I hope it happens, cos I know for sure he has got plenty of fans out there.

We desperately need an awesome swing/jazz guy out here in Australia.

I simply must post this video onto here, I know it doesn't qualify, but it is awesome and the Idols getting to meet and perform with Lionel Richie would have been out of this world. I am really wondering what is happening with Lionel and Carl at the end, Lionel puts fingers to mouth, points, shakes hands with Carl and then later on embraces him. Could this be a watch this space for Carl and for some really amazing things to happen, I certainly hope so because he had an amazing journey on Idol and his fans love him to bits and want him to succeed, because we believe he deserves to, he is very sweet, talented, gorgeous, brave, great trumpet player, singer, he is bringing back the swing to our living rooms and I cannot wait to purchase a cd from him. Go Carl.

I am loving how comfortable Carl is looking up on stage on that video, week after week, he gave amazing performances, my personal fave is the one he did of the gorgeous song from Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory- "Pure Imagination", the fluegelhorn at the end, omg sigh, it is pure bliss this song. I adore it. Thankyou so much Carl for everything you gave us fans of Aussie Idol this year. I hope you succeed in everything you do and yeah we love you and your music. Looking forward to buying your cd's.

Congratulations to Natalie Gauci, winner of series five of Aussie Idol this year and to Matt Corby- runner up of Aussie Idol. Both are amazing artists, I love them too, but my fave is Carl and yeah he is the best.

I was not even going to watch Idol this year, if Carl and Natalie did not make it into the final 12 mix, thankgoodness they did, thankyou Australia for keeping these three magnificent Idols till the very end or nearly the end. Carl as I said was third place getter.

this is a podcast from Nova radio station here in Australia, it involves Carl speaking to the guys the day after his elimination from Aussie Idol, but guess who they get to come on line to talk to Carl, but Michael Buble.

Sounds like Michael may want to catch up with Carl when he comes down to Australia next June.

Michael is one of Carl's heroes of the music world.
