RyanDan reinvents pop classics

RyanDan (Universal) - review

They could have followed the pop-opera road and bored us to tears with another "My Way" or "You Raise Me Up." Instead, flexible-voiced twins Ryan and Dan Kowarsky blow the dust off favourite pop songs from the 1960s to the present day. Their covers of such classics as "I'll be There" and "Wind Beneath My Wings" make them sound like brand-new creations. The orchestrations are lush, the backup singers soulful. This music is polished without being impersonal, emotionally affecting without being cloying – like the Gibb brothers at their best way back when.

Top track: "In Us I Believe" a simple, affecting love song from the almost-forgotten jazz great Johnny Hartman, who died in 1983. Producer Steve Anderson cuts a fine form at the piano.

I couldn't agree more, I love the RyanDan album. I listen to it all the time, even when I'm at work! Can't wait for the next one!!! Very Happy
