Classic FM Takeover

Every Sunday evening between 11pm-Midnight, Classic FM invites a special guest artist to take over Classic FM, play tracks from their latest album release and spin some of their favourite Classical pieces.

This Sunday's guest presenters are Blake.

It will be interesting to catch this programme, not just to hear some of Blake's music, but also to see what Classical pieces inspire them.

Blake also feature in this month's edition of ClassicFM Magazine as Myleene's Hot Property.(November Edition page 29)

Did anyone manage to tune in to hear Blake perform? If so, what did you think?
They played 6 tracks from their forthcoming album; In Paradisum,Ashokan Farewell,Celebration,Vide cor Meum, Swing Low and Jerusalem. They also shared some interesting stories behind the tracks including how Hans Zimmer wrote to them after hearing their rendition of In Paradisum to say much he enjoyed it and how, one of the musicians playing the Ashokan Farewell had a rather unusal method of warming up his instrument. It was a great show and lovely to get a sneak preview of the songs that will be on their album.

I didn't get to listen to the show, but it sounds like it was an interesting program with great insight into the group and their music. I think the show is a really a good idea as it gives the artists a chance to reveal a little more about themselves, their music and their own particular tastes as well.

Several ClassicalX featured artists will be presenting the "ClassicFM Takeover" slot in coming months, especially November, when Aflie Boe, Katherine Jenkins and All Angels take their turns, followed by The Choir Boys at the beginning of December too.
