I see from Aled Jones' appearance schedule for October that he is involved in the BBC2 Young Chorister of the Year. (Xbons tells me he is presenting the programme this year)
The Competition will take place at St.Paul's Cathedral in London on October 27th. Tickets are free and are available from the BBC website
Last year Hayley Westenra and Jon Ansell were both members of the judging panel and during the interval we were treated to a performance by All Angels (Laura was the 2005 winner of BBC Young Chorister of the Year). It was a wonderful evening and a great opportunity to meet up with fellow Classicalx members and artists afterwards. The Competition is recorded and will be broadcast on BBC radio on November 4th.
This year's competitors include an entrant from Winchester Cathedral (of which Ollie Baines and Jules Knight from Blake were members of) and it looks set to be a very enjoyable evening, set in the beautiful surroundings of St.Pauls. |

Hopefully the judging panel will be announced soon Cathy, it would be nice to know.
BTW one of the 2006 winners, William Dutton is in the new line up for the Choirboys. |

I remember William from last year - In the interview section they were asked what they wanted to do when they grew up and William said he wanted to own an ice cream van!! |

| Among the judges are going to be the amazing John Rutter and Natasha Marsh. Also a Duchess (can't remember her name off hand) is on the panel. Blake of course will be performing there too! So excited! x |

It was good to see so many Classicalx artists and fans in one place....representing the artists were; Blake, Aled Jones, Jonathan Ansell and William Dutton from The Choirboys.Natasha Marsh was also due to be there but unfortunately wasn't.Xbons and I both had a very enjoyable evening and it was lovely to meet so many of you from the forums on here.
Hopefully more of you will join in next year and come along. It is a great opportunity to see some of the leading UK Choristers, especially when you see them go on to do other things, like William Dutton. If you're lucky, you also get chance to talk to some of the artists and performers afterwards and I know there are some very happy Nick Garrett fans out there who were thrilled at meeting Blake! |

The Duchess, Lyndsey, was the Duchess of Kent, who now likes to be known (generally) as simply Katherine Kent. Not this year, but in 2006 and 2005, she presented the Young British Classical performer award at the classical Brit awards.
I met her once when I worked for an international agency of which she was President, and was able to have a very brief word with her on Saturday night when we agreed what good work the agency does!!!
Yes, we had quite a little group there!! Well, 9 of us sitting in a row!! Next year let's make it at least 10..... |

It sounds like it was a fantastic night and a good time was had by all. Glad you had such a great time, I'm only sorry I couldn't be there to enjoy it with you!
Hmm, maybe next year I be that "number 10"! |
