Post subject: Pavarotti has passed away.
I am saddened to hear that Pavarotti has lost his battle with cancer and has died at the age of 71.
Rest in peace.

Indeed, a very sad loss to the music world especially, as he was such a big character in every sense of the word and helped bring classical music to to the masses. My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time.

It is a sad day and yet think about how many people were introduced to classical music through Pavarotti. Whether singing Nessun Dorma at the World Cup or performing as a solo artist or part of the three tenors, this man managed to bring classical music to so many people that his legacy will remain for many years to come and will be a wonderful and fitting tribute to his life.

Some of the tributes....
Alfie Boe
"The Maestro's voice sparked the passion inside me to sing, he has left an indelible mark on me and music lovers around the globe. Along with the Operatic world, I pay tribute to a great legend who is sadly missed, Luciano Pavarotti."
Russell Watson
"Pavarotti was the greatest tenor there's ever been.
I was privileged to have performed with Pavarotti in London in 2001.
He influenced me in my early days and got me singing classical music, he was very flamboyant, a true artist, but a very generous man.
His records always sounded fantastic. But unless you saw him live, there wasn't a full appreciation of how cavernous and incredible his top line was.
Pavarotti was "without question" the man who brought opera to the people."
Lesley Garrett
Pavarotti's passing is enormous loss, not just for the world of opera, but for the world at large.
He was a man of the people, and above all of us, he was the man determined to bring opera and great singing to a wider audience," she said.
You didn't have to be an opera expert to know that this was a fantastic sound."
Katherine Jenkins
His talent and voice were unique and can never be replaced."
Bryn Terfel
"Pavarotti was a truly inspirational and awe inspiring artist with a voice of pure gold".
His premiership voice put us all into the second division."
London's Royal Opera House
Pavarotti was one of the finest singers of our time".
He was one of those rare artists who affected the lives of people across the globe in all walks of life.
Through his countless broadcasts, recordings and concerts he introduced the extraordinary power of opera to people who perhaps would never have encountered opera and classical singing, in doing so he enriched their lives. That will be his legacy.
He had a unique ability to touch people with the emotional and brilliant quality of his voice. He was a man with the common touch and the most extraordinary gift. He will be truly missed by millions."
Dame Joan Sutherland
"There is no question he ranked among opera's greats. I'm sorry to hear he's gone, God bless."
Donald Shanks
Retired Australian opera singer Donald Shanks says Pavarotti was a master of his craft.
He had something very, very special about the timbre and the tone of the voice and he was such a larger than life character that it shone through in what he did with his voice,"
Placido Domingo
I always admired the God-given glory of his voice. That unmistakable special timbre from the bottom up to the very top of the tenor range.
I also loved his wonderful sense of humour and on several occasions of our Three Tenors concerts we had trouble remembering we were giving a concert before a paying audience, because we had so much fun ourselves"
Jose Carreras
Luciano was one of the most important tenors of all time.We have to remember him as the great artist that he was, the man with such a wonderful charismatic personality, a very good friend and a great poker player."

Geoff, Simone and all the team at geoffsewell.co.uk would like to pay tribute to the great Luciano Pavarotti who sadly passed away today.
The larger than life tenor has left an incredible legacy to the world of music, bringing the classics to a huge worldwide audience with his immense talent, and will be especially remembered for his internationally acclaimed collaborations with Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras, which broke down many boundaries within music.
He will be greatly missed and all our thoughts are with his family, friends and loved ones at this sad time.
"Thank you for the music"

Nick, Nadia and everyone at nickgarrett.net paid the following tribute....
Everyone at nickgarrett.net wishes to acknowledge the sad and untimely death of Luciano Pavarotti and extends their deepest sympathies to the Pavarotti family.
The gift Luciano Pavarotti gave the world of music will live on as legacy to so many who have enjoyed and will continue to enjoy the remarkable man that was 'Pavarotti'. It has often been said the Classical Crossover began with the 3 Tenors.
He will be sorely missed but continually revered by generations to come.

“Thank you Maestro Pavarotti.
Your jovial image and your ready smile is always there in my mind and my soul. Your unmistakable voice, pure as crystal, encourages us all at this time, as we find ourselves facing the mystery of separation, the moment of passing away.
The pain in my heart is only eased by the thought that your art will always remain with us, will continue to accompany us on our journeys, at home, in our everyday lives.
I would love to speak to the dear Maestro in person and say thank you for your enormous contribution to the world of opera, thank you for having been such a wonderful ambassador for our country over the years. Thank you for showing me the way, for introducing me to opera singing and for your esteem – which I always reciprocated - and which has always been a source of pride for me.
Thank you Maestro for all your precious and dispassionate advice and for constantly inspiring me to do better.
Thank you for making opera into an art form which is available to everyone: all those people who you took by the hand and guided lovingly into the wonderful world of opera and of those great songs which rose to the rank of timeless classics. You will not only be in our hearts for ever, you will be there in our daily lives, still accompanying us as we go about our work and our lives, you will remain a source of inspiration and support in our professional endeavours. Thank you for existing now more than ever as a guarantee of that world of hope and faith which your generous voice will help to make even more beautiful, thank you for spreading your great arms, for singing with us and making us that gift again of your spontaneous and radiant smile. “
