Orpheus sings to save history
Swansea Morriston Orpheus Choir will be singing to save a millennium of history at a concert in the city on August 11.
They will be performing at the historic All Saints Church in Oystermouth with all proceeds going to the church restoration appeal.
Much of the All Saints Church building dates back to the 11th and 12th centuries, with some restoration taking place in Victorian times.
Musical director Joy Amman-Davies said: It is fitting that one of Swansea's oldest choirs should be performing to save one of Swansea's oldest churches. Such an ancient building needs a great deal of care and money for its continuing upkeep, and we hope our many supporters will join us in this splendid setting.
Our repertoire for the evening will aim to suit a range of tastes, from the traditional to more contemporary pieces.
It's the first chance locally for everyone to hear the choir in concert with the soloists from their recent tour. Soprano Jo Appleby will be joined by tenor Andrew Rees and violinist Sali-Wyn Ryan.
Also performing will be the newly appointed accompanists Jo Scullin and Sally Tarlton on piano and organist, Les Ryan.
Tickets are £8 and are on sale at the Mumbles Tourist Information Centre, telephone 01792 361302. _________________ Your attitude determines your altitude in life |
