Hi everyone.

When aled presented the highlights show of friday night is music night last year, he expalined that he always tries to calm the nervous guests down before they perform.
I just wondered how he did that as I have always wondered if the guest get nervous. n

Its a sign of a great presenter that he knows putting guests at ease will make a better interview. Those who are made to feel relaxed speak freely and Aled's guests always do Very Happy

I agree with xcept - one of Aled's great talents is that he always, in my experience, helps his guests to relax, whether it is on one of his own programmes (those on a Sunday morning at 10.00 on Radio Wales, where he interviews a well known guest for an hour and they choose music for each other are prime examples, and well worth a listen - unfortunately they have just finished! but should return in the autumn) or on a more general show like Songs of Praise, or Friday Night is Music Night. Guests frequently comment afterwards about how relaxed they felt, and how easy Aled was to talk to. Very Happy

However, I perhaps should add that Aled has said that he does not find Friday Night is Music Night the easiest show to present! This is largely because, unlike Paul Gambaccicni and Ken Bruce, he is much younger than most of the audience, and, of course, is a relatively new presenter for FNIMN, so is having to work his way into becoming accepted by the audience.

And then those of us who have been fortunate enough to meet Aled in person would also say that he is the consummate professional on stage, but totally at ease and relaxed off stage. He is always easy in his manner when meeting audience members afterwards, so he just has this very easy, relaxed manner and quirky sense of humour, which puts everyone at ease, and no airs and graces at all. At the Classical Brits this year he was talking with Camilla Duchess of Cornwall in the interval, and then afterwards came bounding up the stairs to speak with a group of us, so from the sublime to the ridiculous and equally at ease with each Laughing Laughing
