I'm looking to have a big list as possible of classical crossover artists (the definition is vague, but I think you get the drift of what remotely fits the bill). I'm looking for a classical artist that fuses their music with pop, or vice versa. If you are to put anyone forward, they have to have released a CD from a record label.
This is the list I have compiled so far, have I missed anyone out that you know of?

Nothing to do with other artists directly, but this seemed to be the best topic to post under. Many of you may have your favourite places to purchase your music CDs and DVDs from, but here's a website I came across which you might be interested in.
www.find-dvd.co.uk
This website has a section for Music CDs and also DVDs, you type in the name of the artist/album or film and the site searches many UK outlets to find the cheapest. You do not order from this site, but you are directed to the site of the retailer.
Hope it's of use.

Check out Deviations Project self titled debut.
You can visit their myspace page here:
www.myspace.com/deviations
Deviations consists of violin virtuoso Oliver Lewis and programmer / producer Dave Williams.
Their album has traditional classical songs, a few contemporary pieces and three original compositions...that are all refreshing. |

check out this young man too, he is classically trained, I have already spoken about him on this general chat thread. He is currently unsigned, but a new website is about to come into being for him and I shall let you know when this happens. I have met this young man, Daniel a few times now, he is really lovely, so down to earth and friendly, and I hope and pray that this will be the start of much bigger and better things for him in the future. Lately he has been performing the National anthems at big sporting events here in Australia, such as the cricket finals, A-League soccer finals and last year the Rugby when the English team came out to play the Wallabies. He comes from Sydney, Australia and this coming weekend and the following one, he will be performing with the Strathfield Symphony Orchestra in Sydney, and will be performing Nessun Dorma and Ave Maria. So I will be thinking of him and wishing him well on the 18th and 25th(these are afternoon shows). If only I lived in Sydney and not here in Melbourne, I would be going along and would be able to give you all a full report. What I hope happens is that his performances are recorded in readiness for his new website. Oh and Daniel is only 23 years old, 24 in a couple of months time.
I have seen him performing live about three times now- once in country New South Wales and twice here in Melbourne, and I totally adore his voice and like I said before he is such a nice young man. Anyway if you want to know any more about him, just stay tuned and I promise I will let you know as soon as his website is up and running. More info is in general chat also. |

I will let you all know when Daniel has his website up and running, should not be too far away now.
I am just trying to find out how us members of his forum that were not able to go to Sydney to see his performance on the weekend and cannot go up next week either are able to hear his versions of Ave Maria and Nessun Dorma. Hopefully on his upcoming website. Fingers crossed. |
