Aled'sThe Choir is a Top Choice in the Daily Mail listings this weekend. And although the programme may sometimes seem to be a bit beyond some of us(!), those who listen to GMS will have heard some of the guest artists before - and they really are good.

It reads:

Joseph Shabalala, founder of the choir Ladysmith Black Mamabazo, joins Aled Jones to discuss South African choral music. The group uses the tight, fervent harmonies of a style known as mbube sung by African miners far from home. Joseph´s own life has been overshadowed by violent tragedy, but music has helped him through. The Soweto Gospel Choir deliver spine-tingling stuff, and there are bursts of Handel´s Messiah in Zulu.

I've heard both choirs before - not exactly classicalx, but quite special!
