I love the idea of this website. I will definitely stick around. My one gripe is not being able to choose your avvies. I think your selection is really restricted and a lot of forumers already have custom avvies they use. There should be an option to use your own.

The current restriction on uploading your own avatars is for two reasons.

1. It's a massive security hole that can be abused by script kiddies (nasty people! Very Happy )

2. As there will be a diverse group of people on the forums, many with very strong feelings toward a single artist, we felt to keep an equilibrium amongst the fans, that members would not be able to declare their favouritism towards an artist via their avatar (instantly recognisable). This means that a devout Harley Westenra fan would be able to post their opinions on the Russell Watson forum without any reprise from hardened Russell fans who may feel that that member hasn't the right to post there. The reference to both Hayley and Russell fans is ONLY as an example.

However we can certainly create NEW avatar galleries (currently around 10 diffferent ones?) for members and there is a custom gallery that admin’s can upload your avatar to (of course it wouldn’t stop anyone else from using it though). In the future we may look in to allowing admin’s to upload member custom avatars direct to their accounts.

I can vaguely see what you are getting at. Only vaguely. Isn't my sig a show of favouritism? Even so, I don't think this favouritism attitude ('you don't belong her') exists. Who would actually think that? My Sig and Avvie go as a set, that's why it grates at me a bit.

I fully respect your decision though. But I am looking forward to a wider selection. Not a single category interests me Cool

Lucky you, that you didn't have to experience anything like that in other fan forums. Believe me, an attitude like that surely exists. I don't say it will be that way in here, since I have no idea who's gonna join that board. But I sure can understand xboss' decision on that. BTW... I'm also used to set my own avatar so I was a little bit sad about that as well, but it wouldn't stop me from posting here. It's just a pic anyway. And this board is still "young", who knows what the future will bring Wink

It won't stop me from posting neither. Like I say, it's just a little gripe. I guess I haven't experienced what you have because I am normally at forums where it is dedicated to just one artist at a time. That's a very sad attitude. Everyone has their favourites. Doesn't mean they don't like other artists too.

Love your quote Nadine, I have seen it before. I believe it's featured in 'Classic FM: pocket book of quotes'. I must say, I love that book, especially the Wagner section...

A little taste...

"I love Wagner, but music I prefer is that of a cat hung up by its tail outside a window and trying to stick to the panes of glass with its claws."
Charles Baudelaire, Poet.

I shall look out for that book, it sounds great. Wonder if it will be available here.
