|
|
| Ok, this is a thread we had on Nicks website - we all suggested our favorite songs from all genre's that we thought would sound nice if Nick would perform the song. I thought it might be fun to start one again in anticipation of the CD- that Nick is working on. Who knows maybe he is still collecting: |

Can't remember all the things I wanted on his album but I do know I wanted - RHAPSODY IN TIME, SALVA ME, KEEP THE MUSIC PLAYING, and actually ANYTHING he sings will be A - M - A - Z - I - N - G as nobody sounds like Nick does and he can sing absolutely anything and turn me weak at the knees and make me go all funny inside.
I'm gonna check my original wish list over at Nick's and add some of the others I thought of that weren't stating the obvious and were quite intelligent suggestions (well I thought so anyway )- !!!!![ /b] |

| Oh.. how right you are Amy. He can sing anything and it will sound great. I do wish Keep the music playing in on his CD. He knows we all love that one but whatever he decides will be fine with me, because I know every song will be "BREATHTAKING". |

| I loved that on the Amici Album's they had vocal arrangements to well known pieces of classical music. I think Nick did a wonderful job with arranging the various voices of each band member to parts of the song. Now that he is a solo artist, I hope he will continue to combine the classical with more modern vocals. I would love to hear him do some more arranging on Beethoven pieces and perhaps the music to Schindler's List or other film scores. But like the other Garrett Girls have said, anything he sings will be outstanding as he really puts his heart and soul into his work - a true professional! |

True enough any song sung by Nick will be smooth and send you into a headspin - just picture Nick at his piano (one of my favorite pictures of him is at the piano) singing maybe Music of the Night by Anrew Lloyd Webber --- or maybe the song Love of my Life by Queen.
I also would like to hear Nick sing his version of Send In the Clowns by Stephen Sondheim, I think that'll be fun.. |

I think Nick has a host of pieces up his sleeve for his album and a few of our favourites would have to be there. With his piano playing we are likely to be in for a considerable treat when we find out what's going to be on it. He's a bright and talented composer and there's no doubt he knows what we all want to hear him sing and then some... I'm all for Salva Me to show the power of his voice but enjoy Rhapsody in Time and Keep the Music Playing equally as much. Let's just hope there wouldn't be too many repeats of what is on everyone else's albums. How many times can we hear the same tune by yet another singer??!! I'd bet he knows EXACTLY what's going on it already!!!
I'm all in favour of more of his own compositons and arrangements of new pieces too - that sets him apart for me, always has.
If anyone's interested there is a huge list of suggestions over on Nick's site from all of us as he asked what we'd like on it. Top geezer as I've said before - wants to give us what we want too!

| I agree Jack, some original work by Nick would be fantastic. I've just posted a message on Nick's site (off topic forum) about an interview on Classicfm last night with Amici Members David and Bruno. They were talking about Defined and the interviewer said how he liked that they had set lyrics to well known classical pieces and particularly mentioned Beethoven's 7th. David said how that had been Nick's baby and he had worked on it at home and they thought it had been done very well. Nick has shown what a great talent he has and I'm sure we'll get to see even more of it once he releases his own solo album. |

Beethoven's 7th is still my favourite on that album - for those who may not know which one that is its called "Land & Freedom" (Terra e Liberta) and it's amazingly powerful and strong it is. Always been an admirer of Beethoven. Nick's voice on it is the icing on the damm cake!!.

You go Jack - and yes I do agree that Nick most likely does have all he needs to produce a CD or two - it still is fun though to try and 'imagine' Nicks voice and expertise on some of the rather bad renditions of the over and over recorded same songs. I would just the same listen to something entirely created by Nick (Equus is really good)as to something 'old' with his own little twists and spin. No matter what Nick decided to put on his CD it will make the majority of us happy and I am only saying majority because of the old addage that you can't make everyone happy!
land & Freedom is VERY powerful and I am listening to it right now - too loud for other members of my houshold, I hear |

" Land of Feedom" is also my favourite on the Defined CD and Beethoven is my favourite composer. It would be great if Nick can put some lyrics to "Moonlight Sonata" I love that piece also. |

| Now that would be something Connie! Moonlight Sonata with lyrics! Countess Giulietta Guicciardi may not have been convinced to marry Beethoven for the music he composed for her, but anyone who came up with something like that would get my vote! |

| Or....how about Beethoven's Pathetique? That is a beautiful piece of music too. I know that Billy Joel has previously set lyrics to this (This Night) but I'm sure Nick could come up with something even more spectacular. |

Anything composed by Beethoven is brilliant and Countess Giulietta Guicciardi was more concerned about him being deaf...so sad...
I do hope Nick will put together some lyrics for Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata or Pathetique (good pick). Another favourite composer of mine is Bach, his music is hauntingly magnificent and Nick with his deep Bass-Baritone voice combined with the organ.... the angel of music will take a different swing with Nick & Bach. |

There's been some wonderful suggestions on here of what songs you think Nick should include on his solo album. I'm sure he could produce more than one album just based on your recommendations
So...another question for you...What would you call the Album

How about:
Reborn - English or
Nativitatis Iterum - Latin (birth again) or
Nascita - Italian (birth) or
Nacimiento Otra Vez - Spanish (birth again)
