I'm a big fan of books in general and spend a lot of time reading. Does anyone have any favourite books?

My favourite series is entirely predictible... Harry Potter. And I am not ashamed! The films are poor though.

i'm reading Harry Potter at the mo, (the Half blood prince), I know i'm slow lol but i was reading something else when it came out.

Nicola if you like Harry Potter you might like Phillip Pullmans Dark Material. Have you read them? it is a trilogy of books. Northern Lights. The Subtle Knife, and The Amber Spyglass.

I like all sorts of books, i like funny stories and novels etc. My fave author at the mo is Freya North.

After all the hype regarding Dark Materials, yes, trilogy I did try 'Northern Lights' I got 3/4 of the way through the book waiting for it to start. I must say I don't understand that trilogy at all or where the enjoyment comes from.

I'm a bit obsessed with Harry Potter. I read Half Blood Prince in 10 hours the day it came out and again a week later. All the others I have read about 5 times. Having said that I read a hell of a lot (not just Harry Potter books) some of my favourite authors are the Bronte sisters, Austen, Clemens, Leroux, Collins, MacKintosh and many others. The last book I read that I just couldnt put down was Wilkie Collins 'The Woman In White'. I love ALW but I think his stage adaption is dire compared to the book.

I do like to read books that have hype since I have this stupid philosophy that if there is hype there must be a reason. I do declare that this philosophy went out the window the day I finsihed 'The Da Vinci Code' Mad

I also love reading but the only fantasy type I have enjoyed is The Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe, sorry Embarassed I read Ian Rankin, Alistair McCall Smith and any really good crime writers. I also love Gervaise Phinn who is educations answer to James Heriot.

I just think reading can take you away to another world and beats most of the TV programmes any day. My book and my music and I am happy Razz Razz Razz

Earth's Children books by Jean M Auel.

Temperance Brennan novels by Kathy Reichs

Usually have several books on the go at once, one upstairs, one downstairs and one on train to and from work!

I love reading! In fact the last couple of years I have tried to read a book a week so that I'll have read 52 books in a year. I've not managed it yet, I think the most I've managed is 46. I am ahead of schedule so far this year though, so hopefully I can keep the momentum going. I have read all the Harry Potter books too and enjoyed them. I like a lot of the classics, but also historical fiction, mysteries and crime novels. I also really enjoy reading Shakespeare which I know may seem to be quite boring to some, but I love his wit and yet also his sense of reality in things like love, friendship and loyalty. If anyone has any good recommendations, let me know as I can add them to my reading list for the year!

I'm a big fan of reading, and usually am seen with a book in front of my face and a cd playing in the background!

I read a lot of old books, everything from Chaucer to the Bronte sisters to Harper Lee.
