Hopefully older articles / news items will be of interest to new fans wanting to get as much information on the group as possible -

this is a GMTV webchat with G4 from November 2005

Find out the most extravagant thing the boy have done since their X-Factor days...

TracyJ: Hey guys, how are you? Wow great performance this morning absolutely stunning!!!

JONO: Who was your favourite singer when you were children?

G4: Jon: I used to really love listening to the three tenors when I was young, and I'm inspired by that now
G4: Matt: My Dad used to love listening to the Top 40...
G4: Ben: When I grew up I always used to listen to Bowie and Queen, Michael Jackson etc... A really weird combination!
G4: Mike: It's hard to say anyone in particular. I used to love the old 60s music; I guess that's why my music taste is so varied now! I couldn't pinpoint it into one person.

Jill from Upminster: Hi Jon Matt Ben and Mike, So good to see you all again on GMTV. I loved the song. How did you all get together to form G4?

G4: We were at music school together. Just a bunch of mates to be honest. We started as a barbershop quartet... Mike brought in Bohemian Rhapsody and X Factor came along, and then the rest is history...

Ellie: Hi G4! What is your favourite song to perform on stage?

G4: It's a hard one; we sing so many different styles. Ultimately our trademark track Bohemian Rhapsody which we do right at the end of the gig... everyone in the audience seems to know the words.

G4: Your Voice from the new album... originally done by John Farmer. We found out by accident how good it went down live... people up on their feet.

Claire: Do you ever see or keep in contact with Steve Brookstein?

G4: We did after the show, a few phone calls and texts about his single. Since the album we haven't really spoken...

G4: Jon - I saw him in an Audi garage purely by chance recently!

Sarahbear: What song are you playing on your iPod/CD player at the moment?

G4: Ben - Definitely Kelly Clarkson's album, I love the main singles that have been out. I love her new rock edge.

G4: Matt - I'm listening to our new album and I'm checking everything's alright.

G4: Jon - it's good to listen to remember the words.

Katherine: Mike, I've been reading your book and have read that you play the flute as I do too. How long have you been playing?

G4: I haven't played it recently... I played it at school... I used to do grades at school and had a lot of enjoyment.

Greenleaf2001: What's the most extravagant thing each of you have done since being in G4?

G4: Jon - Collectively, we flew in a helicopter from one gig to another. Rock n roll style! Weird, but great fun. Opportunity to fly in a Lear jet... Though never been in limo...

Anthony: Is there an event that you have sung at or have been invited to in the last year that you thought, "Wow, I can't believe I am here!"?

G4: Mike - 2! First the 50th anniversary of the ITV awards - asked to be performed with so many famous people

G4: Second one was performing at Children in Need last year.

G4: John - Proms in the Park. We hold that dear, to see so many people standing rain... for us!

Kerry xx: Morning guys - Mike, why did you choose to learn Swedish? (Loving the reappearance of the scarf last week by the way) Kerry xx

G4: Mike - To cut a long story short I was living with a Swedish girl for 3 years. After a while she challenged me to learn as it was difficult. Would love to flip from one language to another... It's a cool experience!

sarahxg4: I just wanted to say Ben you are an inspiration to me - I love your story in your book (give me a wave please!!!)

G4: Thank you very much - here's a wave. It's lovely to hear from people who have had similar experiences.

Misty: in the future would you like to see your music follow more of a pop style or would you prefer to stay with your classical roots?

G4: Jon - I think we're having a great time experimenting with both... And I think that's how we should stay. It's great to perform a popular track in a classical style and we wouldn't just like to focus simply on one.

Cheryl: Hey boys, can you give the g4-onliners and g4-siters a wave... we've all been up since 7am to see you on GMTV!

G4: Incredible... after the early 2am start of Children in Need

Ellie: How old were you when you decided you wanted to be singers?

G4: Ben - When I was 14 when my voice had broken...
G4: Mike - I was 8 when I started. I had behavioural problems... singing stopped all that
G4: Jon - I was 6 years-old when I started. Then at 9 I really got into it.
G4: Matt - I've been singing the longest... 26 soon... 17

sarahxg4: Wow thanks for the wave Ben, you've made my day XXXX Hi to Jon, Mike and Matt as well Wink

Topcat: What has been your proudest moment so far?

G4: Jon - For me when I watched the DVD we had a proper copy of it... I was really pleased it was performed at the Albert Hall and it had been recorded forever
G4: Mike - When our album went to no1

Jon: Would any of you ever do I'm A Celebrity... get me out of here?

G4: Mike - We're a bit busy
G4: Jon - I think it would be a challenge... they've got courage and guts. One day, you never know

Molly: I am a big fan of both yourselves and Sir Cliff. What was he like to work with?

G4: It was really strange because he was late... and we were tidying up as we were nervous of meeting him. It was really nice when he got there. He was like a really great friend, great to work with.

Georgie: You've done so well in such a short time - where do you all see yourselves in 5 years time?

G4: It's not fair on Matt he'll be 50!
G4: Seriously - still having fun, still performing. To be honest it should have taken 5 years what we've done in a year...
G4: Thanks for all your support and see you all soon. You can go to GM.TV to pre-order the album G4 & Friends - and the live at the Albert Hall DVD.
